Omoda EV Charging Cables
An Omoda charging cable is a Type 2 to Type 2 cable, and that is true of every plug-in Omoda sold in Britain: the fully electric Omoda E5, the Omoda 7 SHS-P and the Omoda 9 SHS-P.
What differs is speed. The two plug-in hybrids accept 6.6 kW, and the electric E5 draws 7.4 kW at home. Both figures are within reach of our 32A single-phase Type 2 to Type 2 cable, which is the right cable for all three. UK homes are single phase, so a 22 kW three-phase cable adds nothing at home on any Omoda.

SHS-P is the plug-in hybrid. It has a Type 2 charging socket, it is meant to be charged from the mains, and it needs a cable. The Omoda 7 SHS-P and Omoda 9 SHS-P are both SHS-P.
SHS-H is self-charging. It has a small battery topped up by the engine and by braking, no charging socket, and no way to plug it in. The Omoda 5 SHS-H is the one most people ask about. If that is your car, you do not need a charging cable and nothing on this page will fit it.
Omoda's own marketing and many dealers drop the suffix and just say "Omoda 7 SHS", which is where the confusion comes from. Check the badge or the charge flap before you order. There is also a petrol Omoda 7 with no charging socket, while the Omoda 9 is sold as a plug-in hybrid only.
Omoda E5, fully electric, 61 kWh. Draws 7.4 kW at home from a 32A single-phase Type 2 to Type 2 cable and fills from empty in about nine hours. Its onboard charger is rated up to 11 kW, but that is a three-phase number and British homes cannot supply it. The three-phase cable only earns its money if you regularly use a genuine three-phase supply, where the E5 finishes in around six hours.
Omoda 7 SHS-P, plug-in hybrid, 18.4 kWh. Capped at 6.6 kW, so a 32A cable fills it in about three hours and gives back all 56 miles of electric range inside any off-peak window.
Omoda 9 SHS-P, plug-in hybrid, 35.36 kWh. Also capped at 6.6 kW but on roughly double the battery, so a full charge takes about six hours and returns 93 miles of electric range. A 16A cable takes ten and a half hours here, which will not fit a cheap-rate window.
Our Type 2 to 3-Pin Charging Cable works from any household 13A socket at 2.3 kW. On an Omoda 7 SHS-P that is a full charge in about eight and a half hours, which is a genuine overnight method. On an Omoda 9 SHS-P it takes around seventeen hours and on an Omoda E5 about twenty nine, so on those two it is a spare for trips rather than a routine. More on charging from a domestic socket.
Charge port positions vary across the range, so measure rather than assume. The Omoda E5's port is in the centre of the nose, which means nose-in and reverse-in parking need very different lengths. The Omoda 7's flap is on the rear offside, and Omoda's specification places the Omoda 9's on the rear nearside. Measure from your charge point to the flap with the car parked exactly as you leave it, then add slack. 10m is our most popular length, 5m suits a wallbox right beside the port, and 15m and 20m cover detached garages, shared bays and charge points on the far side of the house.

Which charging cable does an Omoda need?
Every plug-in Omoda needs a Type 2 to Type 2 charging cable, and the 32A single-phase version is the right choice for the Omoda E5, the Omoda 7 SHS-P and the Omoda 9 SHS-P alike.
Does the Omoda 5 need a charging cable?
Only if it is the fully electric Omoda E5. The Omoda 5 SHS-H is a self-charging hybrid with no charging socket, so it cannot take a cable at all, and the petrol Omoda 5 does not plug in either.
Is the Omoda 7 SHS a plug-in hybrid?
The Omoda 7 SHS-P is, and it needs a Type 2 charging cable. The petrol Omoda 7 is not and has no charging socket. The P in SHS-P is what tells you the car plugs in.
Is a 22kW three-phase cable worth buying for an Omoda?
Not for home charging. The Omoda 7 and Omoda 9 have single-phase chargers capped at 6.6 kW, and while the Omoda E5 can take 11 kW on three phase, UK homes are single phase and limit it to 7.4 kW. The single-phase 32A cable delivers the maximum every Omoda can use at home.
How long does an Omoda take to charge at home?
About three hours for an Omoda 7 SHS-P, six hours for an Omoda 9 SHS-P and nine hours for an Omoda E5, all from empty on a 32A single-phase cable and a 7 kW home wallbox.
Is a 16A cable enough for an Omoda?
On an Omoda 7 SHS-P a 16A cable still finishes overnight in five hours fifteen minutes. On an Omoda 9 SHS-P it takes ten and a half hours and on an Omoda E5 eighteen hours, so on those two the 32A cable is the only sensible choice.
What cable length should I order for an Omoda?
10m suits most owners. Because the Omoda E5 charges from the nose and the hybrids from the rear, measure from your wallbox to the charge flap with the car parked as normal, add two metres of slack, and choose 15m or 20m if the charge point is far from where you park.
