Product Description

The tip an Omoda E5 owner is most likely to be handed is also the wrong one: that the car's 11 kW onboard charger calls for a 22 kW three-phase cable. It does not, and the reason is worth two minutes.

That 11 kW figure counts three phases added together. A domestic supply here carries one, and one phase through a 32A lead comes to 7.4 kW, the real ceiling on your driveway whatever cable hangs off the wallbox. Our 32A single-phase Type 2 to Type 2 cable reaches that ceiling exactly and takes the 61 kWh battery from empty in about nine hours. A three-phase cable only earns its price where three phases genuinely exist, meaning some workplaces and some public posts. There the E5 holds 11 kW and finishes in roughly six hours. If that describes your week, buy it. Otherwise you are paying for capacity your house cannot send.

Model year makes no difference either. Omoda revised the E5 in August 2025 and the WLTP range moved from 257 miles to 267, but the 61 kWh battery and the AC charging hardware were left alone. An earlier car and a later one want the same cable and the same nine hours.

Every Omoda E5 charges on AC through a Type 2 to Type 2 Charging Cable. The inlet is a CCS Combo 2, and your cable meets the Type 2 portion at the top of it, the fitting used by home wallboxes and untethered public posts across the UK.

Avoid 16A. Capped at 3.7 kW the E5 wants eighteen hours from empty, which no single night will contain, so one charge spills into a second and out of cheap-rate hours. On a car that depends on overnight electricity for its running costs, that is an expensive way to save a few pounds.

Our Type 2 to 3-Pin cable manages 2.3 kW from a household socket, near enough ten miles of range an hour, and about twenty nine hours for the full 61 kWh. Nobody should charge an E5 this way by habit. Its job is to live in the boot and return 60 or 70 miles overnight at a hotel, a holiday let or a relative's house. It is IP67 sealed.

The plug-in hybrid Omodas ask for something different. Both the Omoda 7 and the Omoda 9 stop at 6.6 kW on far smaller packs. Our full Omoda charging cable range covers all three.

Length deserves more thought here than on most cars, because the charge port sits in the centre of the nose rather than a rear wing. Nose-in and reverse-in parking call for completely different reaches, and a lead that is generous one way round can be embarrassing the other. Measure with the E5 exactly where it sits every night, and if the direction varies, work to the longer figure. 10m is our best seller and handles most driveways either way round, with 15m and 20m for detached garages and shared bays. These figures use 58.9 kWh of usable capacity from the 61 kWh pack. Cars registered before August 2025 carry a 257 mile rating rather than 267, but battery and charging speeds are identical, so the same times apply. Range added per hour is a fair-weather number. Expect less in cold weather and on faster roads.

Which Type 2 cable suits an Omoda E5?

An Omoda E5 wants a 32A single-phase Type 2 to Type 2 cable at home. It supplies the full 7.4 kW a single-phase house can deliver and refills the 61 kWh battery in around nine hours, comfortably inside one night.

Does a 22kW cable charge an Omoda E5 faster?

Not at an ordinary house. An Omoda E5 is pinned to 7.4 kW by the single-phase supply feeding a British home, so a 22 kW three-phase cable finishes at exactly the same moment as the cheaper 32A version. The exception is a real three-phase point at work or in public, where the car draws 11 kW and is done in about six hours.

How long does an Omoda E5 take to charge overnight?

An Omoda E5 goes from empty to full in about nine hours on a 7 kW home wallbox with a 32A single-phase cable, so a charge begun at bedtime is done by breakfast. A 16A cable stretches the same job to eighteen hours, which is why we steer E5 owners away from it.

Is a three-pin cable any use on an Omoda E5?

A three-pin cable is useful on an Omoda E5 as a backup, not a routine. It feeds the car 2.3 kW, around ten miles of range an hour, so filling 61 kWh from flat runs to roughly twenty nine hours. Keep one for nights away where a socket is all there is.

Did the 2025 update change how the Omoda E5 charges?

No. The August 2025 update lifted the Omoda E5's WLTP range from 257 miles to 267 and left the 61 kWh battery and the AC charging system exactly as they were. Earlier and later cars take the same 32A single-phase cable and the same nine hours from empty.

What length cable should an Omoda E5 owner buy?

Ten metres is the right starting point for an Omoda E5. Its charge port is in the middle of the nose, so the distance back to your wallbox changes substantially depending on whether you drive in forwards or reverse onto the drive. Measure the way you genuinely park, keep a little spare in hand, and pick 15m or 20m for a detached garage or a shared bay.

The August 2025 update changed the E5's range and rapid charging but not its battery or its onboard AC charger, so both model years take the same cable and charge in the same time at home. The 11 kW figure is a three-phase rating. UK homes are single phase, which caps the car at 7.4 kW, and the 32A single-phase cable delivers all of that.

  • Type 2 to Type 2 Charging Cable:

    A charging cable that connects electric vehicles (EVs) with a Type 2 connector to charging points is also equipped with a Type 2 socket. It supports faster charging speeds and is commonly used across Europe for EVs with this standard connection.

  • Type 2 to 3 Pin Charging Cable:

  • 5m - Charging Cable Length

    A 5M charging cable is the shortest length that we offer. This is great if you can park close to the electricity supply and you don't need much length to reach your car this is a great option for you.

  • 10m - Charging Cable Length

    A 10M charging cable is the most popular length. It allows you to have enough flexibility whilst still being easy enough to move. This is a great option if you cannot park close to the electricity supply.

  • 15m - Charging Cable Length

    A 15M charging cable is a great choice if you need some extra flexibility, i.e. get past another car or reach the other end of a driveway. The length of the cable does not affect the charging speed.

  • 20m - Charging Cable Length

    A 20M charging cable is the longest cable that we currently offer. 20M should be sufficient to reach the vast majority of locations where you would like to charge your car. If this isn't enough you can always add an extension cable.

How to chose your charge speed?
  • 6amp - 12amp Adjustable

    If you are looking to charge your car using a 3-pin socket this is a great choice for you. The maximum charge speed for a 3 pin socket is 12 amps,  so this cable will be capable of charging at the maximum charge speed but it also gives you the option if you want to charge at a slower speed (Reducing risk and costs).

  • 16amp

    A 16amp cable will be able to charge at 3.6kW. This is the cheapest product if your car's max charge speed is 3.6kW. If you have two electric cars or are looking to purchase another it might be worth considering a faster charging cable as this could limit charge speeds moving forward.

  • 32amp

    A 32amp charging cable will be able to charge at 7.2kW. This is the maximum output from a domestic house. A 32amp charge speed will also be able to charge at all lower charge speeds (i.e 16amp - 3.6kW). This is a great choice if you are limited to 7.2kW or you only charge your car at home.

  • 32amp (3 Phase)

    A 32amp 3-phase charging cable will be able to charge at all speeds up to 22kW. This cable will ensure that your ev charging cable never limits your charge speed at home or in public. This cable is also capable of charging at all lower charge speeds.
