What is the difference between a Type 1 and Type 2 charging cable?

Type 2 is the seven pin connector used by almost every EV sold new in the UK, and it works on single and three phase supplies. Type 1 is a five pin, single phase connector found on older cars such as the pre 2018 Nissan Leaf and the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. Check your car's charge port before you buy.
