Geely EV Charging Cables
A Geely charging cable is a Type 2 to Type 2 cable on both cars the brand sells in Britain, the EX5 SUV and the EX2 hatchback. Geely Auto arrived in the UK in October 2025 and has fitted the standard European inlet from the start, so there is no Type 1 Geely and no model year where the connector changed.
The two cars do not charge at the same speed, and that is the one thing to check before ordering. The Geely EX5 has an 11 kW three phase onboard charger on every trim. The Geely EX2 is capped at 6.6 kW. Both are fully electric, with no petrol or self-charging version anywhere in either range, so every Geely on a British driveway needs a cable.
At home the gap narrows a long way. A British house is fed by one phase, which carries 7.4 kW, so an EX5 draws 7.4 kW and an EX2 draws its full 6.6 kW, and our 32A single phase cable delivers both in full. Every lead carries a 2 year manufacturer's warranty, ships free on the next working day, and is covered by our price match promise.
Read MoreBoth current models are covered on their own pages, each with charge times worked out per battery.
The EX5 is the only one of the two that can use a three phase supply, so its figures do not transfer down to the EX2.
A Type 2 to 3-Pin Charging Cable lets either car charge from an ordinary 13 amp household socket at 2.3 kW, which is about 10 miles of range an hour. On the 35.35 kWh Geely EX2 Pro that is a complete charge in around 17 hours 15 minutes, so a domestic socket is a genuine second method rather than a last resort. On the larger EX5 it is a backup that turns a night away from home into roughly 80 miles.
The Geely EX5 charges through a flap on the offside front wing and is 4.615 metres long, so a 5m lead works when the wallbox sits towards the front of the drive on the driver's side. The Geely EX2 is much shorter at 4.135 metres and its flap appears to sit at the nearside rear, which Geely does not confirm in its own literature, so measure before ordering. Take the 10m if you charge at the kerb, share a driveway, or the wallbox went up before the car arrived.
Every cable is built to IEC 62196 Type 2 and holds CE and TUV certification, with an operating range of -30C to 55C. The Type 2 to Type 2 leads are sealed to IP55 and the Type 2 to 3-Pin lead to IP67. All of them carry a 2 year manufacturer's warranty. Our guide to IP ratings explains what those sealing figures protect against in British weather.

What type of charging cable does a Geely use?
Both UK Geely models use a Type 2 to Type 2 charging cable. The Geely EX5 and the Geely EX2 have the same Type 2 inlet, and there has never been a Type 1 Geely sold in Britain, so the connector question has one answer across the brand.
Is the Geely EX5 faster to charge than the Geely EX2?
Yes, on AC. The Geely EX5 has an 11 kW three phase onboard charger and the Geely EX2 has a 6.6 kW one. At a house the EX5 takes 7.4 kW and the EX2 takes 6.6 kW, so the gap is smaller than the specifications suggest, but away from home on a 22 kW post the EX5 pulls ahead properly.
Do I need a 22kW three phase cable for a Geely?
Only for a Geely EX5, and only if you charge somewhere with a genuine three phase supply such as a workplace or a 22 kW public AC post. There it takes a 60.22 kWh EX5 from 9 hours 15 minutes to 6 hours 15 minutes. A Geely EX2 cannot use it at all, because its charger stops at 6.6 kW.
Does a Geely come with a charging cable?
Geely UK lists a Type 2 Mode 3 cable as standard equipment on the EX2. Owners of either model still commonly buy a second lead, usually a longer one, a spare to leave at work, or the 3-pin cable that a supplied Type 2 lead cannot replace.
Can a Geely use public charge points with our cable?
Yes. Most AC posts on UK streets and in car parks are untethered, meaning the socket is bare and the driver brings the lead, so the same Type 2 to Type 2 cable serves at home and away. Rapid DC chargers supply their own attached cable and need nothing from you.
What length of Geely charging cable should I buy?
10m suits most driveways and is the safe choice if you are not certain. Take 5m only where the wallbox sits close to the charging flap, which on an EX5 means the front of the car on the driver's side and on an EX2 the rear nearside. Go longer for a shared drive, kerbside parking or a detached garage.
How long is the warranty on a Geely charging cable?
Two years, from the manufacturer, on every cable we sell for the Geely EX5 and Geely EX2. Delivery is free next working day anywhere in the UK, and if you find the same specification cheaper elsewhere our price match promise applies.

Max charge speed is the vehicle's onboard AC charger, which is what limits charging regardless of the cable or wallbox used. Charging station times assume a 32A single phase home supply, the standard UK domestic arrangement, so the EX5 draws 7.4 kW and the EX2 its full 6.6 kW. The EX5's 11 kW figure is only reachable on a three phase supply.
