Xpeng EV Charging Cables
An Xpeng charging cable is a Type 2 to Type 2 cable. The Xpeng G6 has a CCS Combo 2 inlet, and the Type 2 section at the top of it is where your cable connects, the same fitting used by every UK home wallbox and every untethered public post.
The G6's onboard charger is rated at 11 kW, but that is a three-phase figure. UK homes are single phase, so the car draws 7.4 kW at home and our 32A single-phase Type 2 to Type 2 cable delivers all of it. A 22 kW three-phase cable charges no faster on a British domestic supply.
All cables come with a two-year manufacturer's warranty, free next working day UK delivery and our price match promise.
Read MoreThe Xpeng G6 is sold in Britain in three versions, and all of them accept the same charge rate, so the cable choice does not change with trim. What changes is how long a full charge takes.
G6 RWD Standard Range, 68.5 kWh. About ten and a quarter hours from empty on a 32A single-phase Type 2 to Type 2 cable, gaining roughly 32 miles of range an hour.
G6 RWD Long Range and AWD Performance, 80.8 kWh. About twelve and a quarter hours on the same cable, at roughly 30 miles an hour.
A 16A cable is not adequate on either. It holds the car to 3.7 kW, taking twenty and three quarter hours on the Standard Range and twenty four and a half on the Long Range, so a full charge would never finish inside a night or an off-peak window.
Only when you have regular access to a genuine three-phase supply. On three phase the Xpeng G6 takes its full 11 kW and the Long Range battery fills in about eight and a quarter hours rather than twelve and a quarter. Some workplaces and some public posts provide this. A normal British home does not, and on a single-phase supply the three-phase cable delivers the same 7.4 kW as the cheaper single-phase one.
Our Type 2 to 3-Pin Charging Cable works from any household 13A socket at 2.3 kW, which on a G6 is around nine or ten miles of range an hour. A full charge would take well over a day, so this is a spare for overnight stops rather than a way to run the car. It will still put roughly 100 miles back over a long night somewhere with nothing but a socket. More on charging from a domestic socket.
The G6's charge flap is at the rear on the offside. Measure from your charge point to that corner with the car parked exactly as you leave it, then allow slack so the cable is never pulled tight. 10m is our most popular length and covers most driveways, 5m suits a wallbox mounted beside the rear of the car, and 15m and 20m handle detached garages, shared parking and charge points on the far side of the house.
Type 2 to Type 2 cables are IP55 rated and Type 2 to 3-Pin cables IP67, all built to IEC 62196, CE and TUV certified and rated from -30C to 55C so they can be left outdoors all year round. What the IP rating means. Two-year manufacturer's warranty throughout, with free next working day UK delivery.
Which charging cable does an Xpeng G6 need?
An Xpeng G6 needs a Type 2 to Type 2 charging cable, and the 32A single-phase version is the right one for home use. It delivers the full 7.4 kW a UK single-phase supply allows.
Is an 11kW Xpeng G6 faster than 7.4kW at home?
No. The 11 kW rating on the Xpeng G6 is spread across three phases, and British homes have one phase, so the car is limited to 7.4 kW on any domestic wallbox no matter which cable is used.
How long does an Xpeng G6 take to charge at home?
About ten and a quarter hours from empty for the Standard Range and twelve and a quarter for the Long Range, both on a 32A single-phase cable and a 7 kW home wallbox.
Do the Xpeng G6 versions charge at different speeds?
No. Every Xpeng G6 accepts the same maximum charge rate. The Long Range and AWD Performance just take longer to fill because their battery is larger.
Is a 16A cable enough for an Xpeng G6?
No. A 16A cable limits the Xpeng G6 to 3.7 kW, which means twenty hours or more from empty. The 32A single-phase cable is the only sensible choice on a battery this size.
Can I charge an Xpeng G6 from a three-pin socket?
As a top-up only. A Type 2 to 3-Pin cable gives an Xpeng G6 2.3 kW, so a full charge would run well beyond a day. Keep one as a spare rather than a main cable.
What cable length should I order for an Xpeng G6?
10m suits most owners. Measure from the wallbox to the rear offside of the Xpeng G6 with the car parked as normal, add two metres of slack, and choose 15m or 20m if the charge point is a long way from where you park.
