DS EV Charging Cables
Every plug-in DS sold in the UK charges through a Type 2 inlet, so the lead on this page is a Type 2 to Type 2 cable. Take the 32A version. At a British house it carries the full 7.4kW, which is as much as a single phase supply will ever hand over, and it costs little more than the 16A lead that would halve your charging speed. The two cars covered here are the DS 7 Crossback E-Tense and the DS 3 Crossback E-Tense, and both take the same cable.
Check the badge before you order. The PureTech petrol and BlueHDi diesel versions of the DS 7, DS 7 Crossback, DS 3 and DS 3 Crossback have no charging port at all, so no cable will connect to them. Only cars wearing the E-Tense badge have a socket. DS also dropped the Crossback name at the facelifts, so a DS 7 E-Tense and a DS 3 E-Tense are the same cars with a shorter name and an unchanged inlet.
Read MoreThe DS 7 Crossback E-Tense is a plug-in hybrid rather than an electric car, pairing a petrol engine with a 13.2kWh battery on 2019 to 2022 cars and 14.2kWh on the facelift. No version has rapid charging of any kind, so a wallbox or a three pin socket are the only two ways of putting energy in. DS UK quotes 7.4kW and about 1h45m for the earlier battery, while an earlier release for the 4x4 300 gives 6.6kW. A 32A cable satisfies either figure, so the lead is never the part holding the car back.
The DS 3 is the fully electric one. Cars built from 2020 to 2022 carry 46.3kWh usable with a 7.4kW onboard charger as standard, and the 2023 facelift moved to 50.8kWh usable with an 11kW charger fitted as standard. That difference only shows up on three phase power. On a home supply both charge at 7.4kW, which fills the earlier car in about seven hours and the facelift in about seven and three quarters. Both also carry a CCS socket for rapid charging, and rapid units come with their own lead attached.
Five metres is enough when the wallbox sits within reach of where the DS parks. Ten metres covers a nose in driveway, a garage wall on the far side, or a second car in the way. Our Type 2 to Type 2 cables are IP55 rated and the Type 2 to 3 Pin version is IP67, all CE certified, with a 2 year manufacturer's warranty and free next working day UK delivery.

What type of charging cable does a DS use?
Every plug-in DS sold in the UK charges through a Type 2 inlet, so the lead you want is a Type 2 to Type 2 cable, and the 32A version is the one to take. At a British house it carries the full 7.4kW, which is as much as a single phase supply will ever hand over. The DS 7 Crossback E-Tense and the DS 3 Crossback E-Tense both use exactly the same cable.
Does a petrol or diesel DS need a charging cable?
No. The PureTech petrol and BlueHDi diesel versions of the DS 7, DS 7 Crossback, DS 3 and DS 3 Crossback have no charging port at all, so no cable will connect to them. Only cars wearing the E-Tense badge carry a socket. Check the badge before you order, because the body shape on its own tells you nothing.
How long does a DS 3 E-Tense take to charge?
On a 32A cable at 7.4kW, roughly seven hours for the 2020 to 2022 car with 46.3kWh usable, and about seven and three quarter hours for the 2023 facelift with 50.8kWh usable. Both are comfortable overnight jobs. A 16A lead at 3.7kW stretches those to past fourteen and fifteen hours, which is why we only suggest it where the supply is genuinely capped at 16A.
How long does the DS 7 Crossback E-Tense take to charge?
DS quotes about 1h45m for the 13.2kWh cars built from 2019 to 2022 and around two hours for the 14.2kWh facelift, both from a 7.4kW supply through a 32A cable. An earlier DS release for the 4x4 300 gives 6.6kW instead, which works out nearer 2h15m. The 16A lead needs four hours or so, and a three pin socket at 2.3kW around six and a half to seven.
Do I need a three phase cable for a DS?
Not at home. A UK house is single phase, which holds any car to 7.4kW whatever its onboard charger is rated at. The DS 3 facelift takes 11kW as standard and the earlier DS 3 could with the optional charger, but that only shows up on a genuine three phase supply away from home. The DS 7 E-Tense gains nothing from three phase anywhere.
Is the DS 3 E-Tense the same car as the DS 3 Crossback?
Yes, the badge simply lost a word. Cars built from 2020 to 2022 are the DS 3 Crossback E-Tense with a 50kWh pack, and the 2023 facelift became the DS 3 E-Tense with 54kWh and 156hp. DS dropped the Crossback name from the DS 7 in the same way. The Type 2 inlet did not change, so one cable fits either.
Should I buy 5m or 10m for a DS?
Five metres is plenty when the wallbox sits within reach of where the DS normally parks. Ten metres covers a nose in driveway, a garage wall on the far side, or a second car in the way. Our Type 2 to Type 2 cables are IP55 rated and CE certified, with a 2 year manufacturer's warranty and free next working day UK delivery.
