Product Description

The Leapmotor T03 has one of the smallest batteries on sale in Britain, and that changes the cable decision in a way it does not for anything else Leapmotor sells. At 37.3 kWh, charging speeds that would be hopeless on a family SUV are perfectly workable here.

The T03 uses a Type 2 inlet, so the cable you need is a Type 2 to Type 2. That is the same connector fitted to every home wallbox and every untethered public post in the UK, so there is nothing model specific to worry about on the plug itself.

Speed is where it gets interesting. The T03 accepts 6.6 kW on AC and it is single phase only. Our 32A Type 2 to Type 2 cable is rated above that, so the car draws its full 6.6 kW and goes from empty to full in about six and a quarter hours, adding roughly 30 miles of range for every hour it is plugged in.

A 16A cable holds the car back to 3.7 kW. That stretches the same charge to eleven hours and drops you to seventeen miles an hour. On a T03 it does still finish overnight, which is not true of the bigger Leapmotors, but you are saving a little on the cable in order to wait nearly twice as long every night.

The one Leapmotor where a 3-pin cable genuinely works

On most electric cars a household socket is an emergency measure. On the T03 it is a real option. Our Type 2 to 3-Pin cable delivers 2.3 kW, which is about eleven miles of range an hour. Plug in at six in the evening and by seven the next morning you have put back roughly 145 miles, close to the car's entire WLTP range and far more than most T03 owners cover in a day.

That makes it a workable main cable for a second car that will never get a wallbox, a garage socket in a block of flats, or regular overnight stops at family. It is IP67 sealed for outdoor use. A wallbox and a 32A cable is still faster and better if you can have one, but the T03 is the rare EV where you are not badly compromised without one.

Ignore the 3-Phase 32A cable on this car. The T03's onboard charger cannot use a second or third phase, so it would draw the same 6.6 kW and simply cost you more.

The charge flap sits on the rear left. Lengths run from 5m to 20m and on a car this short 5m often reaches, though 10m is the safer choice if you reverse onto a driveway or share a parking space. Every cable ships CE and TUV certified, IP55 sealed on the Type 2 to Type 2 and IP67 on the Type 2 to 3-Pin, rated from -30C to 55C, with a 2 year manufacturer's warranty and free next working day UK delivery.

The rest of the range charges at different speeds. The C10 shares the T03's 6.6 kW limit on a battery nearly twice the size, while the B10 and B05 step up to 11 kW three phase. See the full Leapmotor charging cable range.

Leapmotor T03 Charging Times

Leapmotor T03, 37.3 kWh, up to 165 miles WLTP

Maximum onboard AC charging speed: 6.6 kW, single phase

Cable Type Max Charge Rate Empty to Full Range Added Per Hour Verdict
Type 2 - 1-Phase, 16A (5m / 10m) 3.7 kW 11 hours approx. 17 miles Finishes overnight, but slow
Type 2 - 1-Phase, 32A (5m / 10m) 6.6 kW (car limited) 6 hours 15 mins approx. 30 miles Best Fit
Type 2 - 3-Phase, 32A (5m / 10m) 6.6 kW (car limited) 6 hours 15 mins approx. 30 miles No gain, do not buy
Type 2 to 3-Pin (5m / 10m) 2.3 kW 17 hours 45 mins approx. 11 miles Genuinely viable on this car

Times are based on the 36 kWh usable capacity. Range added per hour is derived from the car's WLTP efficiency and will fall in cold weather and at motorway speeds.

Leapmotor T03 Charging Cable Questions

Can I run a T03 on a 3-pin socket alone?

Realistically, yes, if your daily mileage is modest. At 2.3 kW you gain about eleven miles an hour, so a thirteen hour overnight stint puts back around 145 miles. Very few T03 owners drive that far in a day, so the battery keeps up. We would still fit a wallbox if the option exists, because 30 miles an hour gives you far more flexibility when plans change.

Is a 16A cable enough on a battery this small?

It works, and that is the honest answer. Eleven hours from empty fits inside a night. The catch is daytime charging: if you get home at five needing 60 miles for an evening trip, the 32A cable has you ready in two hours and the 16A cable in nearly four.

Why does my T03 charge slower than a B10 on the same wallbox?

Because the limit is in the car, not the wallbox or the cable. The T03's onboard charger accepts 6.6 kW, while the B10's accepts up to 11 kW and will pull 7.4 kW on a UK single-phase supply. Same cable, same charger, different ceiling.

What cable length should I buy for a T03?

Measure from your wallbox to the rear left of the car as it normally parks, then add a couple of metres of slack. The T03 is under 3.7m long, so 5m reaches in most driveways. Choose 10m if you park nose in, use a shared bay, or want the cable to reach a neighbouring space.

Do I need to carry a cable for rapid charging on a long trip?

No. Rapid DC units have their own cable permanently attached. Your Type 2 to Type 2 cable is for home, work and the untethered posts you find on street and in car parks, which is where the bulk of UK public charging actually happens.

Do these times get worse in winter?

Slightly. A cold battery accepts power a little more slowly at first, and cabin heating draws from the pack if you precondition on the plug. Expect an hour or so extra on a cold night, and a noticeable drop in the miles per hour figure because the car is using more energy per mile.

The T03 has been sold in the UK in a single specification, so there is nothing to check before ordering. The 6.6 kW ceiling is set by the car's onboard charger, and the 32A single-phase cable lets it take all of that. The three-phase cable cannot raise it, because the T03's charger is single phase only.

  • Type 2 to Type 2 Charging Cable:

A charging cable that connects electric vehicles (EVs) with a Type 2 connector to charging points is also equipped with a Type 2 socket. It supports faster charging speeds and is commonly used across Europe for EVs with this standard connection.

  • Type 2 to 3 Pin Charging Cable:

This cable allows electric vehicles with a Type 2 socket to charge from a standard UK 3-pin domestic outlet. It provides a slower charge but is useful for home or emergency charging when dedicated charging stations aren't available.

  • Type 2 Extension Cable:

A cable is used to extend the reach of a Type 2 charging cable. It’s helpful when the existing cable is too short to connect an electric vehicle to the charging point, providing more flexibility in parking.

  • Type 2 Tethered Cable:

A fixed charging cable attached to a charging point, designed for electric vehicles with a Type 2 socket. The tethered design eliminates the need to carry a separate cable, offering convenience for regular charging at home or work.

  • Type 1 to Type 2 Charging Cable:

A charging cable that connects electric vehicles with a Type 1 socket to charging points equipped with a Type 2 outlet. This allows EVs with the older Type 1 standard to use more modern charging infrastructure.

  • Type 1 to 3 Pin Charging Cable:

This cable enables electric vehicles with a Type 1 connector to charge from a standard UK 3-pin household outlet. It’s suitable for slower charging at home when dedicated EV charging points aren’t accessible.

Sizing guide
  • 5m - Charging Cable Length

A 5M charging cable is the shortest length that we offer. This is great if you can park close to the electricity supply and you don't need much length to reach your car this is a great option for you.

  • 10m - Charging Cable Length

A 10M charging cable is the most popular length. It allows you to have enough flexibility whilst still being easy enough to move. This is a great option if you cannot park close to the electricity supply.

  • 15m - Charging Cable Length

A 15M charging cable is a great choice if you need some extra flexibility, i.e. get past another car or reach the other end of a driveway. The length of the cable does not affect the charging speed.

  • 20m - Charging Cable Length

A 20M charging cable is the longest cable that we currently offer. 20M should be sufficient to reach the vast majority of locations where you would like to charge your car. If this isn't enough you can always add an extension cable.

How to chose your charge speed?
  • 6amp - 12amp Adjustable

If you are looking to charge your car using a 3-pin socket this is a great choice for you. The maximum charge speed for a 3 pin socket is 12 amps,  so this cable will be capable of charging at the maximum charge speed but it also gives you the option if you want to charge at a slower speed (Reducing risk and costs).

  • 16amp

A 16amp cable will be able to charge at 3.6kW. This is the cheapest product if your car's max charge speed is 3.6kW. If you have two electric cars or are looking to purchase another it might be worth considering a faster charging cable as this could limit charge speeds moving forward.

  • 32amp

A 32amp charging cable will be able to charge at 7.2kW. This is the maximum output from a domestic house. A 32amp charge speed will also be able to charge at all lower charge speeds (i.e 16amp - 3.6kW). This is a great choice if you are limited to 7.2kW or you only charge your car at home.

  • 32amp (3 Phase)

A 32amp 3-phase charging cable will be able to charge at all speeds up to 22kW. This cable will ensure that your ev charging cable never limits your charge speed at home or in public. This cable is also capable of charging at all lower charge speeds.
