Product Description

Before you buy anything, check the boot. The Leapmotor B10 is listed as arriving with a Type 2 AC cable and a domestic 3-pin cable as standard, which is more generous than most manufacturers manage in 2026. So the first honest question is not which cable to buy, it is whether you need one at all.

Two things usually decide it. The first is length. Supplied cables are short, typically 5m, which is fine if your wallbox is beside the driver's door and awkward if it is not. The B10's charge flap is on the rear right, so if you reverse onto a driveway with the box on the far wall, or you share a bay, a 5m cable can end up two metres short of useful.

The second is the current rating, and Leapmotor does not publish it. A 16A cable holds the car to 3.7 kW, a 32A cable lets it take 7.4 kW at home. That is the difference between ten and a quarter hours and twenty and a half hours from empty. If your supplied cable is a 16A one, replacing it is the single biggest improvement you can make to how this car lives with you.

How to check what you have

Look at the moulding on the plug or the label on the bag. It will say 16A or 32A, and often 3.7 kW or 7.4 kW. If it only gives a kW figure, 3.7 kW means 16A and 7.4 kW means 32A. Cable thickness is a rough guide too, a 32A cable is noticeably chunkier.

What the B10's 11 kW rating actually gives you

The B10 has an 11 kW onboard charger, which is a genuine three-phase figure and better than the 6.6 kW fitted to the T03 and C10. British houses are supplied with a single phase, so at home the B10 draws 7.4 kW, and our 32A single-phase Type 2 to Type 2 cable delivers exactly that. Empty to full in about ten and a quarter hours, roughly 30 miles of range added an hour.

Where the 11 kW does count is three-phase supplies, which are common at workplaces, farms and industrial units. Plug a 3-Phase 32A cable into one of those and the B10 takes the full 11 kW, dropping a complete charge to seven hours and lifting you to 44 miles an hour. Buy that cable only if you know you have three phases, because on a normal house it behaves exactly like the cheaper 32A cable.

Times use the 67.1 kWh capacity. Range added per hour is derived from the car's WLTP efficiency and will fall in cold weather and at motorway speeds.

The supplied 3-pin cable is genuinely useful to keep, and if you would rather have a sealed one that can live outdoors, our Type 2 to 3-Pin cable is IP67 rated and adds about nine miles an hour, so an overnight stay at a relative's house is worth around 115 miles.

Lengths run 5m to 20m. Given the rear right charge flap, 10m is the length most B10 owners end up wanting, and 15m or 20m suits detached garages and long driveways. Cables ship CE certified, IP55 sealed on the Type 2 to Type 2 and IP67 on the Type 2 to 3-Pin, rated -30C to +50C, or +60C for the 3-pin, with a 2 year manufacturer's warranty and free next working day UK delivery.

My B10 came with cables, why would I buy another?

Two reasons. Length, because a supplied cable is usually 5m and the socket is on the rear right, and rating, because if it is a 16A cable the car charges at half speed. If yours is a 32A cable long enough to reach comfortably, you do not need us, and we would rather tell you that than sell you a spare.

How do I tell whether my cable is 16A or 32A?

The rating is moulded into the plug body or printed on the label. 16A and 3.7 kW mean the same thing, as do 32A and 7.4 kW. If the cable is unlabelled, its thickness is a clue, but the safer move is to watch the charge rate on your wallbox app: around 3.7 kW means 16A.

Will I ever see the full 11 kW at home?

Not on a normal domestic supply, no. Homes in Britain get a single phase, so the ceiling is 7.4 kW regardless of cable or wallbox. Getting 11 kW needs a three-phase connection, which is a job for your distribution network operator and rarely worth it for one car.

Is the 3-Phase 32A cable worth buying for a B10?

It is if you charge somewhere with three phases, and a workplace car park is the usual case. It takes a full charge from ten and a quarter hours down to seven. On a single-phase house it does nothing extra, so do not buy it hoping to future-proof.

Which side is the charging socket on?

Rear right, so on the offside as you look at the car from behind in the UK. Worth knowing before you order a length, because it puts the socket on the road side if you park kerbside on the left.

Is the cable locked to the car while it charges?

Yes. Once charging starts the B10 latches the connector into the socket and it cannot be pulled out until you unlock the car. That is what makes leaving your own cable at an untethered public post reasonable rather than reckless.

  • Type 2 to Type 2 Charging Cable:

    A charging cable that connects electric vehicles (EVs) with a Type 2 connector to charging points is also equipped with a Type 2 socket. It supports faster charging speeds and is commonly used across Europe for EVs with this standard connection.

  • Type 2 to 3 Pin Charging Cable:

  • 5m - Charging Cable Length

    A 5M charging cable is the shortest length that we offer. It is a great option if you can park close to the charge point and do not need much length to reach your car.

  • 10m - Charging Cable Length

    A 10M charging cable is the most popular length. It allows you to have enough flexibility whilst still being easy enough to move. This is a great option if you cannot park close to the electricity supply.

  • 15m - Charging Cable Length

    A 15M charging cable is a great choice if you need some extra flexibility, i.e. get past another car or reach the other end of a driveway. The length of the cable does not affect the charging speed.

  • 20m - Charging Cable Length

    A 20M charging cable is the longest cable that we currently offer. 20M reaches the vast majority of locations where you would want to charge your car. Always use one continuous cable. Never join two charging cables together and never charge through an extension lead, because the join is where heat builds up.

How to choose your charge speed
  • 6amp - 12amp Adjustable

    The choice if you will charge from a standard UK 3 pin socket. It runs at the most the socket can safely supply, and the control box lets you turn the current down for a slower, gentler charge overnight or on an older circuit.

  • 16amp

    A 16amp cable will be able to charge at 3.7kW. This is the cheapest product if your car's max charge speed is 3.7kW. If you have two electric cars or are looking to purchase another it might be worth considering a faster charging cable as this could limit charge speeds moving forward.

  • 32amp

    A 32amp charging cable will be able to charge at 7.4kW, which is the most a single phase UK home supply can deliver. A 32amp cable also charges at every lower speed (for example 16amp, 3.7kW), so it is the right choice if your home charge point is 7.4kW or you mostly charge at home.

  • 32amp (3 Phase)

    A 32amp 3-phase charging cable will be able to charge at all speeds up to 22kW, so the cable never limits your charge speed at home or in public. It is also capable of charging at all lower charge speeds.
