Product Description

The Geely EX2 reached British showrooms in August 2026, and unusually for a car at this price Geely lists a Type 2 Mode 3 charging cable as standard equipment. So most EX2 owners are not starting from nothing. The car's onboard charger is rated at 6.6 kW on all three trims, Pro, Max and Ultra alike, which means no cable on the market will fill it faster than the 32A one. What owners buy afterwards is almost always about reach rather than speed, because the lead supplied with a car is the shortest one that will do the job.

A Geely EX2 charging cable is a Type 2 to Type 2 Charging Cable. Every UK trim is fully electric, with no petrol or hybrid EX2 anywhere in the range, so the connector has one answer across the whole model and every model year so far.

Choose the 32A single phase version. Geely UK has not said whether the 6.6 kW charger is single or three phase, and for buying purposes it does not matter, because 6.6 kW is the ceiling on any supply anywhere. A house delivers up to 7.4 kW through its one phase, already more than the EX2 will accept, and a 22 kW three phase lead cannot lift a 6.6 kW charger by a single kilowatt. Save the money for something the car can use.

The 16A cable is a closer call on the EX2 than on almost anything else we sell for, because the batteries are small. On the 47.14 kWh Max it means 14 hours 30 minutes rather than 8 hours, which spills well past any overnight tariff. On the 35.35 kWh Pro it is 10 hours 45 minutes against 6 hours, which just about survives a long night. The gap is thirteen pounds once, and two to six hours every time you plug in.

The 3-pin lead is where the EX2 does something most electric cars cannot. Our Type 2 to 3-Pin Charging Cable supplies 2.3 kW from a household outlet, roughly 10 miles an hour, and on a 35.35 kWh Pro that is a complete charge in 17 hours 15 minutes. Every lead here is manufactured to IEC 62196 Type 2 and certified by CE, with an operating window of -30C to +50C, or +60C for the 3-pin. Which charging cable does a Geely EX2 need?

The Geely EX2 charges through a Type 2 to Type 2 Charging Cable, and 32A single phase is the fastest specification it can use. Its onboard charger is capped at 6.6 kW, so nothing more expensive will fill the car any quicker on any supply.

Does the Geely EX2 come with a charging cable?

Geely UK lists a Type 2 Mode 3 charging cable as standard equipment on the EX2, so a new car should arrive with one. Owners still buy a second cable, usually for a longer reach, for a spare to leave at work, or for the 3-pin lead that a supplied Type 2 cable cannot replace.

Will a 22kW cable charge a Geely EX2 faster?

No. The Geely EX2 has a 6.6 kW onboard charger, which is its ceiling on any supply in any country, so a 22 kW three phase cable would deliver exactly 6.6 kW into it. The cheaper 32A single phase lead does the identical job for less money and less weight.

How long does a Geely EX2 take to charge?

About 8 hours from empty for the 47.14 kWh Geely EX2 Max and Ultra on a 32A cable, and about 6 hours for the 35.35 kWh Pro. A 16A lead stretches those to 14 hours 30 minutes and 10 hours 45 minutes.

Can a Geely EX2 be charged from a normal socket?

Yes, and on the Pro it is a method rather than a fallback. A 3-pin lead moves 2.3 kW into a Geely EX2, filling the 35.35 kWh battery in about 17 hours 15 minutes and adding roughly 10 miles for every hour it stays plugged in.

What length of cable does a Geely EX2 need?

The EX2 is a short car at 4.135 metres, and its charging flap appears to sit on the nearside rear quarter, which Geely does not confirm in its own literature, so check yours before ordering. On that basis 5m suits a car reversed onto a drive with the wallbox behind it, and 10m covers kerbside charging or a unit mounted up by the house.

Compatibility

All three UK Geely EX2 trims are battery electric. There is no petrol EX2 and no self-charging version anywhere in the range, so every EX2 on a British driveway takes a cable. Geely publishes these capacities as usable and gives no gross figure, and it does not state whether the 6.6 kW charger is single or three phase, which makes no difference to the cable you need. The same car is sold as the Geely Xingyuan in China and the Geely E2 in continental Europe, and some of those markets get battery sizes Britain does not, so ignore foreign spec tables.

  • 5m - Charging Cable Length

    A 5M charging cable is the shortest length that we offer. It is a great option if you can park close to the charge point and do not need much length to reach your car.

  • 10m - Charging Cable Length

    A 10M charging cable is the most popular length. It allows you to have enough flexibility whilst still being easy enough to move. This is a great option if you cannot park close to the electricity supply.

  • 15m - Charging Cable Length

    A 15M charging cable is a great choice if you need some extra flexibility, i.e. get past another car or reach the other end of a driveway. The length of the cable does not affect the charging speed.

  • 20m - Charging Cable Length

    A 20M charging cable is the longest cable that we currently offer. 20M reaches the vast majority of locations where you would want to charge your car. Always use one continuous cable. Never join two charging cables together and never charge through an extension lead, because the join is where heat builds up.

How to choose your charge speed
  • 6amp - 12amp Adjustable

    The choice if you will charge from a standard UK 3 pin socket. It runs at the most the socket can safely supply, and the control box lets you turn the current down for a slower, gentler charge overnight or on an older circuit.

  • 16amp

    A 16amp cable will be able to charge at 3.7kW. This is the cheapest product if your car's max charge speed is 3.7kW. If you have two electric cars or are looking to purchase another it might be worth considering a faster charging cable as this could limit charge speeds moving forward.

  • 32amp

    A 32amp charging cable will be able to charge at 7.4kW, which is the most a single phase UK home supply can deliver. A 32amp cable also charges at every lower speed (for example 16amp, 3.7kW), so it is the right choice if your home charge point is 7.4kW or you mostly charge at home.

  • 32amp (3 Phase)

    A 32amp 3-phase charging cable will be able to charge at all speeds up to 22kW, so the cable never limits your charge speed at home or in public. It is also capable of charging at all lower charge speeds.
