Product Description

The Xpeng G6 is a big, quick, long-legged electric car, and none of that is what you think about at eleven at night with it parked on the drive. What matters then is AC charging, the unglamorous half of owning one, and there the G6 settles at 7.4 kW on a 32A single-phase cable.

Two battery sizes reach Britain: 68.5 kWh in the RWD Standard Range, 80.8 kWh in the RWD Long Range and the AWD Performance. All of them carry an onboard charger rated at 11 kW, so the pack you chose changes how long you are plugged in rather than how fast the car drinks. On a home wallbox the smaller battery is done in about ten and a quarter hours and the larger one in twelve and a quarter, and that two hour gap is the whole practical difference between them.

Every Xpeng G6 takes a Type 2 to Type 2 Charging Cable for its AC charging. There is a single CCS Combo 2 inlet on the car and your cable meets the Type 2 half at the top of it, the fitting every UK wallbox and every untethered public post uses.

The 11 kW number is where the money question lives. It describes what the G6 will accept when three separate phases feed it at once, and that is a supply found at workplaces and business parks rather than on a domestic meter. A British house has one phase to offer, one phase stops at 7.4 kW, which our 32A single-phase Type 2 to Type 2 cable already carries in full. So the three-phase cable earns its keep in the car park, not on the driveway. Commute somewhere with a three-phase post and the Long Range G6 refills in roughly eight and a quarter hours instead of twelve and a quarter, which turns it into a car you fill while you are at your desk and barely plug in at home. Without that access you would be paying for headroom the wire can carry and the house cannot.

A 16A cable is not a viable purchase at this battery size. Held to 3.7 kW, the Standard Range car wants twenty and three quarter hours from empty and the Long Range twenty four and a half. Both spill well past a single night, so the charge never lands neatly inside a cheap overnight window, and off-peak electricity is how a pack this large stays affordable to run.

Our Type 2 to 3-Pin cable pulls 2.3 kW from an ordinary socket and returns nine or ten miles of range an hour. Filling a G6 that way would run beyond a day, so treat it as luggage rather than infrastructure. Left in the boot it can recover 100 miles or so across a long overnight stop where a wall socket is the only thing on offer. It carries IP67 sealing for outdoor use.

The charge flap is at the rear of the G6, on the offside. Measure from the wallbox to that back corner with the car standing where it usually stands, then allow enough extra that the cable hangs rather than pulls tight. 10m is our best seller and handles the majority of driveways, while 15m and 20m exist for detached garages, shared parking and a charge point mounted on the far side of the house.

Charge times here use 67.8 kWh and 80.0 kWh of usable capacity. The AWD Performance shares the 80.8 kWh battery with the Long Range but is rated at 316 miles, so its range added per hour comes out fractionally lower. Winter temperatures and motorway cruising will reduce it.

An Xpeng G6 owner should buy a 32A single-phase Type 2 to Type 2 cable. It hands the car the whole 7.4 kW a home supply permits: about ten and a quarter hours from empty on the 68.5 kWh Standard Range, twelve and a quarter on the 80.8 kWh Long Range.

Is the three-phase cable a waste of money on an Xpeng G6?

On an Xpeng G6 charged only at home, yes, because a domestic supply pegs the car to 7.4 kW whichever cable is fitted. It stops being a waste the moment you have a three-phase source, usually a workplace charger, where the G6 draws its full 11 kW and the Long Range battery is finished in around eight and a quarter hours.

Do the Xpeng G6 Standard Range and Long Range charge at different speeds?

No, the Xpeng G6 Standard Range and Long Range accept power at identical rates. Only the duration differs, because the 80.8 kWh car sits on the wallbox roughly two hours longer than the 68.5 kWh car simply to fill the extra battery.

Will a three-pin cable keep an Xpeng G6 going?

A three-pin cable will top an Xpeng G6 up but will not realistically run one. The 2.3 kW on offer works out at nine or ten miles of range an hour, so a charge from empty stretches beyond a day. Keep one in the boot for overnight stops rather than leaning on it weekly.

How much range does an Xpeng G6 gain overnight at home?

An Xpeng G6 gains around 300 miles across a ten hour night on a 32A single-phase cable, which works out at 30 to 32 miles of range an hour. That is a complete refill for the Standard Range car and most of one for the Long Range.

How many metres of cable does an Xpeng G6 need?

Most Xpeng G6 owners need 10m. The charge flap sits at the offside rear, so measure from the wallbox to that corner in your normal parking position and leave the cable enough spare that it is never taut. Detached garages, shared bays and charge points on the opposite side of the house usually call for 15m or 20m.

All three current G6 versions accept the same charge rate, so the cable recommendation does not change with trim. Earlier G6s built before the 2026 update used 66 kWh and 87.5 kWh batteries and take the same Type 2 to Type 2 cable. The 11 kW figure is a three-phase rating. UK homes are single phase, which caps the car at 7.4 kW, and the 32A single-phase cable delivers all of that.

  • 5m - Charging Cable Length

    A 5M charging cable is the shortest length that we offer. This is great if you can park close to the electricity supply and you don't need much length to reach your car this is a great option for you.

  • 10m - Charging Cable Length

    A 10M charging cable is the most popular length. It allows you to have enough flexibility whilst still being easy enough to move. This is a great option if you cannot park close to the electricity supply.

  • 15m - Charging Cable Length

    A 15M charging cable is a great choice if you need some extra flexibility, i.e. get past another car or reach the other end of a driveway. The length of the cable does not affect the charging speed.

  • 20m - Charging Cable Length

    A 20M charging cable is the longest cable that we currently offer. 20M should be sufficient to reach the vast majority of locations where you would like to charge your car. If this isn't enough you can always add an extension cable.

How to chose your charge speed?
  • 6amp - 12amp Adjustable

    If you are looking to charge your car using a 3-pin socket this is a great choice for you. The maximum charge speed for a 3 pin socket is 12 amps,  so this cable will be capable of charging at the maximum charge speed but it also gives you the option if you want to charge at a slower speed (Reducing risk and costs).

  • 16amp

    A 16amp cable will be able to charge at 3.6kW. This is the cheapest product if your car's max charge speed is 3.6kW. If you have two electric cars or are looking to purchase another it might be worth considering a faster charging cable as this could limit charge speeds moving forward.

  • 32amp

    A 32amp charging cable will be able to charge at 7.2kW. This is the maximum output from a domestic house. A 32amp charge speed will also be able to charge at all lower charge speeds (i.e 16amp - 3.6kW). This is a great choice if you are limited to 7.2kW or you only charge your car at home.

  • 32amp (3 Phase)

    A 32amp 3-phase charging cable will be able to charge at all speeds up to 22kW. This cable will ensure that your ev charging cable never limits your charge speed at home or in public. This cable is also capable of charging at all lower charge speeds.
