Product Description

The Lexus RZ is the rare car where the expensive cable is genuinely the right one. Every 2026 Lexus RZ 350e, 500e and 550e has a 22 kW onboard charger as standard, replacing the 11 kW unit fitted to the earlier RZ 450e and RZ 300e. Lexus spells out what that needs in its own footnote: an AC charger with a three phase supply of 32 amps or greater. Almost nothing else we sell for can use a 32A three phase cable to its full capacity. This one can.

Every RZ charges through a Type 2 to Type 2 Charging Cable, which Lexus names directly in its own specification as a Type 2 Mennekes inlet. The charging flap sits on the nearside front wing, so the lead comes in at the kerb-side front corner.

At home, the 32A single phase cable is still the right buy, because one phase is all a domestic supply carries and 7.4 kW is where that stops, regardless of what the car could accept. The 22 kW headline only means anything where three real phases arrive. If you charge at a workplace or use 22 kW public AC posts, the 32A three phase cable takes a 2026 RZ from 11 hours 45 minutes to 4 hours. A 16 amp three phase lead would leave half that capability unused, which is the one place on this site where the heavier cable is not an upsell but a requirement.

The 16A single phase cable undoes the whole point of a 22 kW car, stretching a full charge to 23 hours 30 minutes and halving the miles put back each hour.

There is still a case for the domestic socket lead. Our Type 2 to 3-Pin Charging Cable carries 2.3 kW from a normal household outlet, roughly 11 miles an hour, which is a slow way to fill 77 kWh but a fast way to rescue an unplanned overnight stop. Our guide sets out what a house socket returns.

Lexus plug-in hybrids charge far more slowly and are covered on the Lexus NX 450h+ charging cable page, while the older electric hatchback is at Lexus UX 300e charging cable. The full set appears under Lexus EV charging cables. If you want to know what the IP figures below are actually protecting against, our IP ratings guide covers it.

CE certification against IEC 62196 Type 2 applies to every lead here, with an operating range of -30C to +50C, or +60C for the 3-pin. The Type 2 to Type 2 cables are rated IP55, the Type 2 to 3-Pin is IP67, all of it carries a 2 year manufacturer's warranty, and UK delivery is free on the next working day.

FAQs

Lexus RZ Charging Cable FAQs

Which charging cable does a Lexus RZ need?

That depends on the year. A 2026 Lexus RZ 350e, 500e or 550e has a 22 kW charger and needs a 32A three phase cable to use all of it. An RZ 450e or RZ 300e from 2023 to 2025 has an 11 kW charger. Both take the same 32A single phase cable at home, where the supply rather than the car sets the limit.

Is the 22kW cable worth buying for a Lexus RZ?

On a 2026 RZ, yes, if you have three phase access. It is the only car we sell for where a 32A three phase cable is the difference between using the onboard charger fully and using half of it, taking a full charge from 11 hours 45 minutes to 4 hours. Lexus itself specifies a 32 amp three phase supply for the 22 kW figure.

Does the 22kW charger help at home?

No. Domestic supplies in Britain carry one phase and stop at 7.4 kW, so a 2026 Lexus RZ charges at exactly the same speed on a home wallbox as the older 11 kW cars did. The 22 kW capability only appears at a workplace or a 22 kW public AC post.

Is the Lexus RZ really only 6.6kW on AC?

No, and that figure should be ignored on a UK car. Some databases publish 6.6 kW single phase for the RZ 450e, which is the North American specification. Lexus UK's own technical documents state 11 kW three phase for the RZ 450e and RZ 300e, and 22 kW for the 2026 range.

What length of cable does a Lexus RZ need?

The charging flap is on the nearside front wing of a 4.805 metre car, so 5m works when you park nose in with the wallbox on the passenger side. Anything else on a car this long, and the lead has to run around the nose or down the far flank, which is where 10m is the safer order.

Does a Lexus RZ come with a charging cable?

Lexus lists a Type 2 Mode 3 32 amp cable and a 3-pin 10 amp cable as standard equipment on the RZ. Owners still buy a second lead for length, for a spare to leave at work, or because the supplied cable is single phase rated and cannot deliver the 22 kW the 2026 car is capable of.

Compatibility

The RZ is one of the few cars where a three-phase cable is a genuine upgrade, but only on the newer models. The 2023 to 2025 cars, badged RZ 450e and RZ 300e, have an 11 kW onboard charger. The 2025 facelift, badged RZ 350e, RZ 500e and RZ 550e, moved to a 22 kW charger, and Lexus states plainly that you need a three-phase supply of 32A or more to see it. On a normal UK single-phase home supply every RZ charges at about 7.4 kW, so a 32A Type 2 cable is the right buy for home. A three-phase cable is worth having if you have a newer RZ and use three-phase public posts.

  • Type 2 to Type 2 Charging Cable:

A charging cable that connects electric vehicles (EVs) with a Type 2 connector to charging points is also equipped with a Type 2 socket. It supports faster charging speeds and is commonly used across Europe for EVs with this standard connection.

  • Type 2 to 3 Pin Charging Cable:

This cable allows electric vehicles with a Type 2 socket to charge from a standard UK 3-pin domestic outlet. It provides a slower charge but is useful for home or emergency charging when dedicated charging stations aren't available.

  • Type 2 Extension Cable:

A cable used to extend the reach of a Type 2 charging cable. It's helpful when the existing cable is too short to connect an electric vehicle to the charging point, providing more flexibility in parking.

  • Type 2 Tethered Cable:

A fixed charging cable attached to a charging point, designed for electric vehicles with a Type 2 socket. The tethered design eliminates the need to carry a separate cable, offering convenience for regular charging at home or work.

  • Type 1 to Type 2 Charging Cable:

A charging cable that connects electric vehicles with a Type 1 socket to charging points equipped with a Type 2 outlet. This allows EVs with the older Type 1 standard to use more modern charging infrastructure.

  • Type 1 to 3 Pin Charging Cable:

This cable enables electric vehicles with a Type 1 connector to charge from a standard UK 3-pin household outlet. It's suitable for slower charging at home when dedicated EV charging points aren't accessible.

Sizing guide
  • 5m - Charging Cable Length

A 5M charging cable is the shortest length that we offer. It is a great option if you can park close to the charge point and do not need much length to reach your car.

  • 10m - Charging Cable Length

A 10M charging cable is the most popular length. It allows you to have enough flexibility whilst still being easy enough to move. This is a great option if you cannot park close to the electricity supply.

  • 15m - Charging Cable Length

A 15M charging cable is a great choice if you need some extra flexibility, i.e. get past another car or reach the other end of a driveway. The length of the cable does not affect the charging speed.

  • 20m - Charging Cable Length

A 20M charging cable is the longest cable that we currently offer. 20M reaches the vast majority of locations where you would want to charge your car. Always use one continuous cable. Never join two charging cables together and never charge through an extension lead, because the join is where heat builds up.

How to choose your charge speed
  • 6amp - 12amp Adjustable

The choice if you will charge from a standard UK 3 pin socket. It runs at the most the socket can safely supply, and the control box lets you turn the current down for a slower, gentler charge overnight or on an older circuit.

  • 16amp

A 16amp cable will be able to charge at 3.7kW. This is the cheapest product if your car's max charge speed is 3.7kW. If you have two electric cars or are looking to purchase another it might be worth considering a faster charging cable as this could limit charge speeds moving forward.

  • 32amp

A 32amp charging cable will be able to charge at 7.4kW, which is the most a single phase UK home supply can deliver. A 32amp cable also charges at every lower speed (for example 16amp, 3.7kW), so it is the right choice if your home charge point is 7.4kW or you mostly charge at home.

  • 32amp (3 Phase)

A 32amp 3-phase charging cable will be able to charge at all speeds up to 22kW, so the cable never limits your charge speed at home or in public. It is also capable of charging at all lower charge speeds.
