Product Description

This is our free storage bag for EV cables. It costs nothing, and the reason we list it as a product rather than quietly dropping it in the box is so you can add it to an order deliberately and know exactly what is coming.

It is a soft storage bag with a zipped opening and carry handles, and it takes up to a 15m charging cable. That capacity is worth pausing on, because it is larger than it looks. Most drivers own a 5m or a 10m lead, and both of those disappear inside this bag with room left over. If you have gone up to a 15m cable for a long drive or a shared parking bay, this still swallows it.

The bag is dust and corrosion resistant. That is the property that quietly matters. A charging cable rarely fails because of anything you can see. What kills connectors is fine grit finding its way into the pins over a couple of years of being thrown around a boot. Keeping the lead closed inside a bag stops most of that before it starts.

Being straight about what this is not: the listing for this bag does not state a waterproof rating, so treat it as storage rather than weather protection. If you regularly unplug in heavy rain and want the lead sealed properly, our standard EV charging cable bag is specified as fully waterproof, and the hard carry case adds a rigid shell on top of that.

Plenty of owners end up keeping both. The free bag lives in the garage with the home lead while the paid case travels in the boot, so there is always somewhere to put a cable and neither one is the bag you left behind at the house.

For most people, though, this is simply the bag that stops a coiled cable rolling around and marking the boot lining. It does that job for free. UK delivery is free on the next working day.

FAQs

Free EV Cable Storage Bag FAQs

What fits inside the free storage bag?

Up to a 15m charging cable. That is generous for a free bag and it covers every common length we sell, from a short 5m lead through the 10m most drivers buy and on to a 15m cable for a long driveway. Shorter leads simply sit inside with slack.

Will a 10m 32A cable fit?

Easily. A 10m 32A lead is well inside the 15m capacity, so it goes in without you having to force the zip or compress the coil. Wind it in loose loops instead of tight turns and it drops straight in, which also avoids putting a sharp bend behind the connector.

Is this bag waterproof?

The specification for this bag lists a zipped opening and dust and corrosion resistance, but it does not state a waterproof rating, so we will not claim one. Treat it as tidy storage. If you want a lead sealed against rain, our standard charging cable bag is specified as fully waterproof.

Does it keep the boot clean?

It makes a real difference. A cable left loose rolls about and rubs road grime into the boot carpet every journey. Zipped inside the bag, the coil stays put and most of that dirt stays with it. A soaking wet lead is better suited to the waterproof bag.

How is it different from your paid bags?

Capacity is actually larger here at 15m. What you give up is construction. The paid bags are hardback or hard shelled and specified as fully waterproof, so they hold their shape under luggage and seal against rain. This one is a soft zipped bag that keeps your cable contained and your boot tidy.

Is it really free?

Yes, it is listed at no cost so you can add it to an order alongside a cable. There is no catch and no minimum spend attached to the bag itself. If you later decide you want the waterproof or hard shelled version, the paid bags are listed separately in our accessories range.

Sizing guide
  • Type 2 to Type 2 Charging Cable:

A charging cable that connects electric vehicles (EVs) with a Type 2 connector to charging points is also equipped with a Type 2 socket. It supports faster charging speeds and is commonly used across Europe for EVs with this standard connection.

  • Type 2 to 3 Pin Charging Cable:

This cable allows electric vehicles with a Type 2 socket to charge from a standard UK 3-pin domestic outlet. It provides a slower charge but is useful for home or emergency charging when dedicated charging stations aren't available.

  • Type 2 Extension Cable:

A cable used to extend the reach of a Type 2 charging cable. It's helpful when the existing cable is too short to connect an electric vehicle to the charging point, providing more flexibility in parking.

  • Type 2 Tethered Cable:

A fixed charging cable attached to a charging point, designed for electric vehicles with a Type 2 socket. The tethered design eliminates the need to carry a separate cable, offering convenience for regular charging at home or work.

  • Type 1 to Type 2 Charging Cable:

A charging cable that connects electric vehicles with a Type 1 socket to charging points equipped with a Type 2 outlet. This allows EVs with the older Type 1 standard to use more modern charging infrastructure.

  • Type 1 to 3 Pin Charging Cable:

This cable enables electric vehicles with a Type 1 connector to charge from a standard UK 3-pin household outlet. It's suitable for slower charging at home when dedicated EV charging points aren't accessible.

Sizing guide
  • 5m - Charging Cable Length

A 5M charging cable is the shortest length that we offer. It is a great option if you can park close to the charge point and do not need much length to reach your car.

  • 10m - Charging Cable Length

A 10M charging cable is the most popular length. It allows you to have enough flexibility whilst still being easy enough to move. This is a great option if you cannot park close to the electricity supply.

  • 15m - Charging Cable Length

A 15M charging cable is a great choice if you need some extra flexibility, i.e. get past another car or reach the other end of a driveway. The length of the cable does not affect the charging speed.

  • 20m - Charging Cable Length

A 20M charging cable is the longest cable that we currently offer. 20M reaches the vast majority of locations where you would want to charge your car. Always use one continuous cable. Never join two charging cables together and never charge through an extension lead, because the join is where heat builds up.

How to choose your charge speed
  • 6amp - 12amp Adjustable

The choice if you will charge from a standard UK 3 pin socket. It runs at the most the socket can safely supply, and the control box lets you turn the current down for a slower, gentler charge overnight or on an older circuit.

  • 16amp

A 16amp cable will be able to charge at 3.7kW. This is the cheapest product if your car's max charge speed is 3.7kW. If you have two electric cars or are looking to purchase another it might be worth considering a faster charging cable as this could limit charge speeds moving forward.

  • 32amp

A 32amp charging cable will be able to charge at 7.4kW, which is the most a single phase UK home supply can deliver. A 32amp cable also charges at every lower speed (for example 16amp, 3.7kW), so it is the right choice if your home charge point is 7.4kW or you mostly charge at home.

  • 32amp (3 Phase)

A 32amp 3-phase charging cable will be able to charge at all speeds up to 22kW, so the cable never limits your charge speed at home or in public. It is also capable of charging at all lower charge speeds.
