Product Description

The EV Cable Carry Case is the hard version in our storage range. Everything else we sell for keeping a charging lead tidy is a bag. This one is built to be sat on, stacked on and loaded over, which is what actually happens to anything that lives in a car boot.

Think about how a boot gets used. The cable goes in first because it is always there, then the weekly shop goes on top, then a suitcase, then a folded pushchair. A soft bag flattens under that and the connectors inside take the load. A hardback case holds its shape and takes the weight itself, which is the whole argument for spending more than you would on a plain bag.

The case is fully waterproof, so a lead that came off a charge point in the rain can be shut away without any of that water reaching the boot floor. It is dust and corrosion resistant as well, keeping grit clear of the connector pins where it does the slow damage nobody notices until a charge fails. The opening is zipped, so it closes completely rather than gaping when the case is tipped on its side, and carry handles are fitted.

Capacity is up to a 10m charging cable, which covers our 5m and 10m Type 2 leads.

Choosing between our storage options is mostly about two questions. How long is your cable, and how rough is your boot? If your lead is longer than 10 metres, our large storage bag goes to 15m. If your boot is gently used and you only want the cable contained, the standard EV cable bag does that for less. Take this one when the case needs to survive being buried under luggage. FAQs

Hard EV Cable Carry Case FAQs

What can I fit in the hard carry case?

Up to a 10m charging cable, which takes in both of the lengths most drivers own. A 5m lead sits inside loosely. A 10m lead fills it as intended. For anything above 10 metres, our large storage bag is the right choice because it is rated to hold a 15m cable.

Does a 10m 32A cable go in?

It does. The 10m capacity is quoted with a full thickness 32A lead in mind, not a thin one. Coil it in wide, loose loops before it goes in. That way the zip closes without pressure and the cable is not held in a tight bend right where it enters each connector.

Is the carry case waterproof?

Yes. The case is specified as fully waterproof, so a wet cable can go straight in after unplugging without soaking whatever else is in the boot. Alongside that it is dust and corrosion resistant, which protects the pins inside the connectors from the fine grit that circulates in any car boot.

Will it stop my boot getting dirty?

Yes, and it goes further than a soft bag can. A loose lead spreads water and road salt over the carpet. Zipped in here, that stays contained, and because the case is rigid it will not seep or transfer damp through the sides when other luggage presses down on it.

Why choose this over your softer bags?

Protection against being crushed. A soft bag keeps a cable clean but offers nothing when a heavy case lands on it. The hard version holds its shape, so the connectors are not taking the weight of your luggage. If your boot is mostly empty, a softer bag is the sensible saving.

Can I use it for a tethered wallbox cable?

No, and it is worth saying why. A tethered cable is wired permanently into your charge point, so it never comes off to be stored. This case is for a portable lead that travels in the car. If your only cable is tethered, a wall bracket is the accessory you actually want.

Sizing guide
  • Type 2 to Type 2 Charging Cable:

A charging cable that connects electric vehicles (EVs) with a Type 2 connector to charging points is also equipped with a Type 2 socket. It supports faster charging speeds and is commonly used across Europe for EVs with this standard connection.

  • Type 2 to 3 Pin Charging Cable:

This cable allows electric vehicles with a Type 2 socket to charge from a standard UK 3-pin domestic outlet. It provides a slower charge but is useful for home or emergency charging when dedicated charging stations aren't available.

  • Type 2 Extension Cable:

A cable used to extend the reach of a Type 2 charging cable. It's helpful when the existing cable is too short to connect an electric vehicle to the charging point, providing more flexibility in parking.

  • Type 2 Tethered Cable:

A fixed charging cable attached to a charging point, designed for electric vehicles with a Type 2 socket. The tethered design eliminates the need to carry a separate cable, offering convenience for regular charging at home or work.

  • Type 1 to Type 2 Charging Cable:

A charging cable that connects electric vehicles with a Type 1 socket to charging points equipped with a Type 2 outlet. This allows EVs with the older Type 1 standard to use more modern charging infrastructure.

  • Type 1 to 3 Pin Charging Cable:

This cable enables electric vehicles with a Type 1 connector to charge from a standard UK 3-pin household outlet. It's suitable for slower charging at home when dedicated EV charging points aren't accessible.

Sizing guide
  • 5m - Charging Cable Length

A 5M charging cable is the shortest length that we offer. It is a great option if you can park close to the charge point and do not need much length to reach your car.

  • 10m - Charging Cable Length

A 10M charging cable is the most popular length. It allows you to have enough flexibility whilst still being easy enough to move. This is a great option if you cannot park close to the electricity supply.

  • 15m - Charging Cable Length

A 15M charging cable is a great choice if you need some extra flexibility, i.e. get past another car or reach the other end of a driveway. The length of the cable does not affect the charging speed.

  • 20m - Charging Cable Length

A 20M charging cable is the longest cable that we currently offer. 20M reaches the vast majority of locations where you would want to charge your car. Always use one continuous cable. Never join two charging cables together and never charge through an extension lead, because the join is where heat builds up.

How to choose your charge speed
  • 6amp - 12amp Adjustable

The choice if you will charge from a standard UK 3 pin socket. It runs at the most the socket can safely supply, and the control box lets you turn the current down for a slower, gentler charge overnight or on an older circuit.

  • 16amp

A 16amp cable will be able to charge at 3.7kW. This is the cheapest product if your car's max charge speed is 3.7kW. If you have two electric cars or are looking to purchase another it might be worth considering a faster charging cable as this could limit charge speeds moving forward.

  • 32amp

A 32amp charging cable will be able to charge at 7.4kW, which is the most a single phase UK home supply can deliver. A 32amp cable also charges at every lower speed (for example 16amp, 3.7kW), so it is the right choice if your home charge point is 7.4kW or you mostly charge at home.

  • 32amp (3 Phase)

A 32amp 3-phase charging cable will be able to charge at all speeds up to 22kW, so the cable never limits your charge speed at home or in public. It is also capable of charging at all lower charge speeds.
