Product Description

Buy the Type 2 to Type 2 32A cable. Every e-SpaceTourer leaves the factory with a 7.4 kW onboard charger, and 32A single phase is the rating that carries all of it at a UK home. The question worth settling before you order is not the cable, it is which battery sits under your van, because that decides how long it stays plugged in.

Citroen sold the 50 kWh car on its own from late 2020, in standard and XL lengths, with 46.3 kWh usable. The 75 kWh version arrived with the March 2024 facelift and holds 68 kWh usable. Both share the same Type 2 inlet and the same cable. On a 7.4 kW wallbox the 50 kWh car fills from empty in about seven hours, while the 75 kWh car needs closer to ten and a half. That gap is the reason to plug in most nights rather than twice a week.

An 11 kW three phase onboard charger was offered as an option, listed on the XL and on facelift cars. We could not confirm from our data whether it was available on the earliest 50 kWh models. Either way it changes nothing at home, because British houses are single phase and an 11 kW van still draws 7.4 kW from a domestic wallbox. At a three phase point, the option brings the 50 kWh car down to roughly four and three quarter hours and the 75 kWh car to about seven, and only that situation justifies buying the three phase lead.

The 16A cable at 3.7 kW is a weak match for a battery this size, taking over fourteen hours on the 50 kWh and nearly twenty one on the 75 kWh. A three pin lead at 2.3 kW is slower again and belongs in the boot as emergency kit, not as a charging plan. One more check: the diesel SpaceTourer BlueHDi has no charging port, so it needs no cable at all.

For length, an e-SpaceTourer is a long vehicle and rarely parks tidily. Take 5m only if the wallbox is level with the flap, and 10m if you reverse in, park across a bay, or share a charger with a second car.

Every cable is built to IEC 62196, CE certified, with Type 2 to Type 2 rated IP55 and Type 2 to 3 Pin rated IP67. All come with a 2 year manufacturer's warranty and free next working day UK delivery.

FAQs

Citroen e-SpaceTourer Charging Cable FAQs

Which cable does the Citroen e-SpaceTourer need?

A Type 2 to Type 2 cable at 32A. Every e-SpaceTourer has a 7.4 kW onboard charger as standard, and 32A single phase carries exactly that at a domestic wallbox. The same cable serves the 50 kWh and 75 kWh batteries, so you only need to pick a length once you have decided the rating.

How long does a 50 kWh e-SpaceTourer take?

Around 7 hours from empty on a 7.4 kW wallbox with a 32A cable, working from 46.3 kWh usable. A 16A cable at 3.7 kW pushes that to about 14 hours 15 minutes, and a three pin socket at 2.3 kW to nearly 23 hours, which is longer than most drives are free.

How much longer does the 75 kWh version take?

Roughly three and a half hours longer. The facelift 75 kWh car carries 68 kWh usable and fills in about 10 hours 30 minutes on 7.4 kW, against 7 hours for the 50 kWh. Both cars accept the same 7.4 kW, so the extra time comes purely from the larger battery.

Is the 11 kW three phase option useful at home?

No. UK homes run on a single phase supply, so an e-SpaceTourer fitted with the 11 kW charger still takes 7.4 kW on your driveway and finishes no sooner than a car without it. The option only pays back at a genuine three phase charge point, where the 50 kWh car drops to about 4 hours 45 minutes.

Does the diesel SpaceTourer take a charging cable?

No. The SpaceTourer BlueHDi, built from 2016, has no traction battery and no charging port, so nothing on this page fits it. Only the e-SpaceTourer plugs in, and the e prefix on the model badge is the quickest way to tell the two versions apart on a forecourt.

Is 5m or 10m better for an e-SpaceTourer?

Ten metres suits most owners, because the van is long and often parks nose in with the inlet away from the wall. Five metres is fine when the wallbox sits directly beside the charging flap and the vehicle always parks the same way round. Both lengths deliver the full 7.4 kW.

Compatibility

The e-SpaceTourer is the passenger version of the e-Dispatch van, and like the rest of Citroen's electric range it is Type 2 with a 7.4 kW onboard charger as standard and an 11 kW three-phase charger as an option. The thing to establish is which battery you have, because Citroen sold the 50 kWh on its own from 2020 and only added the 75 kWh later. Both take exactly the same cable; the difference is how long it sits on the wallbox. On a UK single-phase home supply, an 11 kW car still charges at 7.4 kW, so the option only earns its money on three-phase.

Sizing guide
  • Type 2 to Type 2 Charging Cable:

A charging cable that connects electric vehicles (EVs) with a Type 2 connector to charging points is also equipped with a Type 2 socket. It supports faster charging speeds and is commonly used across Europe for EVs with this standard connection.

  • Type 2 to 3 Pin Charging Cable:

This cable allows electric vehicles with a Type 2 socket to charge from a standard UK 3-pin domestic outlet. It provides a slower charge but is useful for home or emergency charging when dedicated charging stations aren't available.

  • Type 2 Extension Cable:

A cable used to extend the reach of a Type 2 charging cable. It's helpful when the existing cable is too short to connect an electric vehicle to the charging point, providing more flexibility in parking.

  • Type 2 Tethered Cable:

A fixed charging cable attached to a charging point, designed for electric vehicles with a Type 2 socket. The tethered design eliminates the need to carry a separate cable, offering convenience for regular charging at home or work.

  • Type 1 to Type 2 Charging Cable:

A charging cable that connects electric vehicles with a Type 1 socket to charging points equipped with a Type 2 outlet. This allows EVs with the older Type 1 standard to use more modern charging infrastructure.

  • Type 1 to 3 Pin Charging Cable:

This cable enables electric vehicles with a Type 1 connector to charge from a standard UK 3-pin household outlet. It's suitable for slower charging at home when dedicated EV charging points aren't accessible.

Sizing guide
  • 5m - Charging Cable Length

A 5M charging cable is the shortest length that we offer. It is a great option if you can park close to the charge point and do not need much length to reach your car.

  • 10m - Charging Cable Length

A 10M charging cable is the most popular length. It allows you to have enough flexibility whilst still being easy enough to move. This is a great option if you cannot park close to the electricity supply.

  • 15m - Charging Cable Length

A 15M charging cable is a great choice if you need some extra flexibility, i.e. get past another car or reach the other end of a driveway. The length of the cable does not affect the charging speed.

  • 20m - Charging Cable Length

A 20M charging cable is the longest cable that we currently offer. 20M reaches the vast majority of locations where you would want to charge your car. Always use one continuous cable. Never join two charging cables together and never charge through an extension lead, because the join is where heat builds up.

How to choose your charge speed
  • 6amp - 12amp Adjustable

The choice if you will charge from a standard UK 3 pin socket. It runs at the most the socket can safely supply, and the control box lets you turn the current down for a slower, gentler charge overnight or on an older circuit.

  • 16amp

A 16amp cable will be able to charge at 3.7kW. This is the cheapest product if your car's max charge speed is 3.7kW. If you have two electric cars or are looking to purchase another it might be worth considering a faster charging cable as this could limit charge speeds moving forward.

  • 32amp

A 32amp charging cable will be able to charge at 7.4kW, which is the most a single phase UK home supply can deliver. A 32amp cable also charges at every lower speed (for example 16amp, 3.7kW), so it is the right choice if your home charge point is 7.4kW or you mostly charge at home.

  • 32amp (3 Phase)

A 32amp 3-phase charging cable will be able to charge at all speeds up to 22kW, so the cable never limits your charge speed at home or in public. It is also capable of charging at all lower charge speeds.
