The Range Rover Evoque PHEV accepts up to 7 kW on AC. That sits at or under the 7.4 kW a UK house delivers, so this is as quick as it gets, at home or at a public post. Paying up for a three-phase lead buys nothing here.

The plug-in Range Rover Evoque, badged P300e from 2020 and P270e from 2025, charges through a Type 2 inlet at up to 7 kW AC, so the lead to buy is a Type 2 to Type 2 in 32A single phase. It is the only cable on this page that carries all 7 kW. Land Rover is unusually forthcoming about this car in its own UK technical specification: 15 kWh total and 12.17 kWh usable, 2 hours 12 minutes to 100 per cent on a 7 kW wall box, 6 hours 42 minutes on a 2.3 kW domestic plug. Those published numbers are why this page needs little argument. The specification says what the Evoque does. What it never says is which cable produces each line of it, or that only one of the two leads it describes actually arrives with the car. Nothing else in the range plugs in at all: the P160 petrol and the D165 and D200 diesels are mild hybrids with no socket.

Which Range Rover Evoque charging cable produces Land Rover's published figures

The 32A single phase cable is the lead behind the 2 hours 12 minutes. Our menu lists it as 32amp (7.2kW). On a single phase supply it carries up to 7.4 kW and the Evoque's onboard charger takes 7 kW of that, the wall box rate Land Rover quotes against its own time. Worked from the 12.17 kWh usable battery with charging losses added, that is 2 hours from empty and roughly 21 miles of electric range for every hour plugged in. The 22 kW three phase cable arrives at the same 2 hours. The 7 kW ceiling sits inside the vehicle rather than in the lead, so the second and third power cores of a three phase cable find nothing to connect to in an Evoque, whether the socket is at a house, a workplace or a public post. Safe cable, wasted money here. The 16A cable arrives at 3 hours 45 minutes. Listed as 16amp (3.6kW), it holds the vehicle to 3.7 kW, a little over half of what the charger would accept, and cuts the hourly gain to about 11 miles. Left plugged in overnight, nobody notices the difference, because this battery fits inside an off-peak window several times over on either lead. The cost of 16A lands in daylight instead. On 37 miles of electric range, an Evoque that has done a school run and a commute is empty by mid morning, and the gap between 2 hours and 3 hours 45 minutes decides whether the afternoon runs on electricity or petrol.

Charging cable length here is set by a flap on the rear wing, fitted on the opposite side of the car to the petrol filler, and by an Evoque being just 4.371 metres long. Land Rover supplies a 5 metre lead, right if you reverse onto a drive with the wall box on the flap's side and short for anything else. Park nose in and the cable runs from that back corner, past both doors and the bonnet, to a unit on the house wall, which is the 10 metre case, and the one most Evoque drivers are in. The 15 metre and 20 metre 32A cables, coiled in the boot between uses, suit a detached garage, a shared drive, or a bay well away from the meter. UK reviews place the flap on the nearside rear, so check which side yours is on before pacing anything out; the petrol filler sets it, and it is easy to assume the wrong one.

The 3-pin lead is the cable Land Rover does not hand over. Land Rover UK states that Mode 3 charging cables are included with the vehicle and that Mode 2 cables are not included and are bought separately, which means the 6 hours 42 minutes printed in the specification describes a lead that was never in the boot. Our Type 2 to 3-Pin Charging Cable is that missing lead: 2.3 kW out of an ordinary 13 amp socket, an IP67 sealed body, a Type B RCD built into the control box, and current adjustable from 6 to 12 amps where a ring main is old. Roughly 7 miles go back on per hour, and empty to full runs to about 6 hours by our own maths. Against 12.17 kWh a 13 amp socket is a full charge rather than a token one, so the lead earns its keep for a night on a relative's drive or at a cottage with no wall box near it. Put it straight into a wall socket, never an extension lead.

Land Rover gives the pack as 15 kWh total and 12.17 kWh usable on both badges, so every time above is worked from the usable figure; the maker's own quotes of 2 hours 12 minutes on a 7 kW wall box and 6 hours 42 minutes on a domestic plug sit slightly beyond our calculation. The official electric range moved about over the P300e run, from up to 34 miles at the 2020 launch to 39 miles for the 2024 model year, while the 2025 specification gives 37 miles for the P270e, so treat the miles per hour column as a guide to the ratio rather than a promise. A cold morning and a stretch of motorway will each shave miles off it.

What charging cable comes with a Range Rover Evoque, and what is missing?

A Type 2 lead comes with the plug-in Range Rover Evoque and a 3-pin lead does not. Land Rover UK states that Mode 3 charging cables are included with the vehicle while Mode 2 charging cables are not included and can be purchased separately, and the supplied cable is 5 metres. So a new Evoque P270e can use a wall box on day one but cannot use a household socket until a Type 2 to 3-Pin Charging Cable is bought. A used P300e may well arrive with neither lead, so open the underfloor tray before the wall box appointment.

Does a Range Rover Evoque really charge in 2 hours 12 minutes?

Yes, on a 7 kW wall box with a 32A cable, which is the combination behind Land Rover's published figure for the Evoque P300e and P270e. The car's onboard charger accepts 7 kW, a 32A single phase Type 2 to Type 2 cable carries up to 7.4 kW, and the 12.17 kWh usable battery will fully charge in about 2 hours by our own calculation. Put a 16A cable in the same wall box and the Evoque is held to 3.7 kW and takes 3 hours 45 minutes instead.

Would a 22kW three phase cable do anything for a Range Rover Evoque?

No, nothing at all. The plug-in Range Rover Evoque has a single phase onboard charger rated at 7 kW, so a 22 kW three phase lead leaves two of its power cores unused and charges the car in the same 2 hours as the cheaper 32A single phase cable. That holds on a driveway, in a workplace car park wired for three phases, and at a public 22 kW Type 2 post. Three phase leads only pay on electric vehicles whose own charger can take more than one phase.

Is a P270e any different to charge than a P300e?

No. Land Rover renamed the plug-in Range Rover Evoque from P300e to P270e for 2025 and left the charging hardware alone: the same 15 kWh pack with 12.17 kWh usable, the same Type 2 inlet, and the same 7 kW single phase onboard charger. One 32A single phase Type 2 to Type 2 cable is the right buy across the whole run from 2020 to today, and a cable bought for an older P300e carries over to a newer car, which settles most questions from owners changing between the two.

Which Range Rover Evoque models have a charging socket?

Only the plug-in hybrid ones, badged P300e or P270e. A Land Rover Range Rover Evoque with either badge takes a Type 2 charging cable. The rest of the current Range Rover Evoque range, the P160 petrol and the D165 and D200 diesels, are mild hybrids that recover their own energy under braking and have no charging port, so no cable of any kind will connect to them. The first generation Evoque, sold from 2011 to 2019, never offered a plug either. The badge ending in a lower case e is the test.

How long a cable does a Range Rover Evoque need?

Ten metres for most driveways, though we recommend pacing the run out before ordering. The Range Rover Evoque carries its charging flap on the rear wing, opposite the petrol filler, on a body 4.371 metres long, so a nose-in park or a wall box on the far side of the house sends the lead the length of the car before it reaches the socket. The 5 metre cable does the job only when you reverse in and the unit is on the flap's side, which is what the supplied lead assumes. Every Range Rover Evoque charging cable here is stocked in 5m and 10m, and the 32A single phase cable adds 15m and 20m for a garage set back from the parking space or a post shared between bays.

Compatibility

Only the plug-in Evoque takes a cable, and Land Rover renamed it part way through: it is the P300e from 2020 to 2024 and the P270e from 2025, but mechanically it is the same car. Everything else in the range, including the D200 and D165 diesels and the P200 and P250 petrols, is a mild hybrid with no charging port. The first-generation Evoque of 2011 to 2019 never plugged in at all. The plug-in has a 7 kW Type 2 charger and, unusually for a car of this size, DC rapid charging, though Land Rover's own newer specification is clear that the car's real maximum on DC is 32 kW rather than the 50 kW post you plug into.

  • 5m - Charging Cable Length

    A 5M charging cable is the shortest length that we offer. It is a great option if you can park close to the charge point and do not need much length to reach your car.

  • 10m - Charging Cable Length

    A 10M charging cable is the most popular length. It allows you to have enough flexibility whilst still being easy enough to move. This is a great option if you cannot park close to the electricity supply.

  • 15m - Charging Cable Length

    A 15M charging cable is a great choice if you need some extra flexibility, i.e. get past another car or reach the other end of a driveway. The length of the cable does not affect the charging speed.

  • 20m - Charging Cable Length

    A 20M charging cable is the longest cable that we currently offer. 20M reaches the vast majority of locations where you would want to charge your car. Always use one continuous cable. Never join two charging cables together and never charge through an extension lead, because the join is where heat builds up.

How to choose your charge speed
  • 6amp - 12amp Adjustable

    The choice if you will charge from a standard UK 3 pin socket. It runs at the most the socket can safely supply, and the control box lets you turn the current down for a slower, gentler charge overnight or on an older circuit.

  • 16amp

    A 16amp cable will be able to charge at 3.7kW. This is the cheapest product if your car's max charge speed is 3.7kW. If you have two electric cars or are looking to purchase another it might be worth considering a faster charging cable as this could limit charge speeds moving forward.

  • 32amp

    A 32amp charging cable will be able to charge at 7.4kW, which is the most a single phase UK home supply can deliver. A 32amp cable also charges at every lower speed (for example 16amp, 3.7kW), so it is the right choice if your home charge point is 7.4kW or you mostly charge at home.

  • 32amp (3 Phase)

    A 32amp 3-phase charging cable will be able to charge at all speeds up to 22kW, so the cable never limits your charge speed at home or in public. It is also capable of charging at all lower charge speeds.
