The Porsche Macan accepts up to 11 kW on AC, and the MY27 GTS and Turbo move up to 22 kW. This cable carries the fastest version of the car at full speed and works on any three-phase charge point you meet.

Only charging at home? A British house is single phase, so the car draws 7.4 kW whatever cable is plugged into it. The 32A single-phase cable (5m / 10m / 15m / 20m) gives you all of that for less money.

Every electric Porsche Macan, from the rear-wheel-drive Macan through the Macan 4 and 4S to the GTS and Turbo, charges on AC through a Type 2 inlet and takes a Type 2 to Type 2 Charging Cable. All of them carry the same 100 kWh battery with about 95 kWh usable, and on a home charge point they draw 7.4 kW. That pairing makes the Porsche Macan Electric an unusual cable decision. Filling 95 kWh at 7.4 kW takes 14 hours 30 minutes, longer than any overnight tariff period, so almost nobody charges a Macan from flat on a driveway. The vehicle is topped up in slices instead, and the question is not how long a full charge takes but how much range one cheap rate window puts back. That number is what separates the cables below.

Porsche Macan charging cable: which amperage fills the window

The one to buy for home: the 32A single phase cable. Our rated power list calls it 32amp (7.2kW) and it passes 7.4 kW of charging power, all that one live phase delivers at a British address. Seven hours on that cable moves about 52 kWh, roughly 55 per cent of a Macan's battery, worth about 217 miles in the rear-wheel-drive car and about 203 in a Turbo. It is the only rating we build in 15 and 20 metre lengths. Idle on a driveway, useful away from it: the 32A three phase cable, listed as 32amp - 3 Phase (22kW). A house is fed by a single live phase, and the two spare power cores in that lead have nothing to connect to, so the Macan settles at the same 7.4 kW. Its value is at a workplace or public charging station fed by three phases, where an 11 kW Macan finishes in 9 hours 45 minutes. Porsche announced in August 2026 that the new model year brings a 22 kW onboard charger as standard on the Macan GTS and Turbo, and as an option on the Macan, Macan 4 and Macan 4S. Those 22 kW cars empty to full in 5 hours at a three phase post, and they are the only Macans that use everything this lead can carry. The one that shrinks the window: the 16A cable, shown as 16amp (3.6kW). It holds the car at 3.7 kW, so those seven hours return about 112 miles rather than 217, and a full charge stretches to 29 hours. On a battery this large the cheaper lead is what pushes an electric car out of the night rate and into the day.

Length is set by the wallbox rather than by how you park, because the Porsche Macan Electric has a charging flap in each rear wing and Porsche GB confirms AC charging works on both sides, with one port locking automatically while the other is in use. Rapid DC runs through the left hand flap only. On a 4.78 metre car that means the run you measure is from the unit to the nearer rear corner, whichever way the nose points, and on an ordinary drive 5 metres often covers it. Choose 10 metres when the charge point is at the front of the house and the Macan sits at the top of the drive, when the bay is shared, or when a wall forces a detour. The 15 and 20 metre cables are for kerbside charging, a detached garage, or a unit mounted at the road end of a long approach. Pace the route out with the vehicle where it lives, since Type 2 leads cannot be joined to make up a shortfall.

A household lead is the gap in most Macan Electric boots. Porsche GB states that a Mode 3 cable is part of the standard equipment for a Porsche BEV and should always be carried in the car, while the Porsche Mobile Charger that plugs into a domestic socket is listed as optional equipment, so the 3-pin half is the piece an owner is least likely to have. Our Type 2 to 3-Pin Charging Cable is the 6amp - 12amp Adjustable (2.3kW) entry in the list. Think of it as a portable charger, not a second home lead: it pulls 2.3 kW from an ordinary household socket, worth about 10 miles of range an hour, so one night parked at a house with no wallbox returns roughly 70 miles, enough to get a Macan home. Its control box holds a Type B RCD and winds the draw back to 6 amps where wiring is old, and the IP67 seal covers an outdoor socket in the wet. Against 95 kWh it is no routine: from empty it would run for 46 hours 45 minutes.

Porsche quotes a band rather than one figure for each version, 341 to 398 miles for the rear-wheel-drive Macan, 328 to 379 for the Macan 4, 326 to 379 for the 4S, 330 to 363 for the GTS and 328 to 366 for the Turbo, so a car on the largest wheels sits below the range per hour shown above. Battery capacity does not move between versions: Porsche gives 100 kWh gross with roughly 95 kWh usable across the range, and the times here are worked from the usable figure. Every row loses some of its miles per hour on a cold morning and at a steady 70 mph.

How much range does a Porsche Macan gain in one overnight window?

About 217 miles in a rear-wheel-drive Porsche Macan over seven hours, using the 32A single phase Type 2 to Type 2 cable at 7.4 kW. That is roughly 52 kWh, a little over half of the 95 kWh usable battery, and it lands between 203 and 217 miles depending on which version and which wheels. The same seven hours on the 16A cable is worth about 112 miles. Very few owners ever see the empty to full time of 14 hours 30 minutes, because a Macan is rarely plugged in flat. Plug the vehicle in most nights and a Porsche Macan Electric never runs a long charge at all.

Which charging cable should a new Porsche Macan owner order first?

The 32A single phase Type 2 to Type 2 cable, in the length that reaches the nearer rear wing. It carries the full 7.4 kW a single phase home charger provides, which is the ceiling for every Porsche Macan whatever its onboard charger is rated at, and it drops back to 16A duty without complaint if the wallbox or the car changes later. Timers, load balancing and tariff switching all sit inside the wallbox rather than in the cable, which is why an Ohme, a Zappi or a Pod Point takes this same lead, and why the same lead works at an untethered public charging station. Both AC charging methods, a wallbox and a household socket, plug into the same Type 2 inlet on the vehicle.

Do the Macan GTS and Turbo need a different charging cable now they charge at 22 kW?

They take the same Type 2 to Type 2 cable, but they are the first Porsche Macans that can use the 32A three phase version to the full. Porsche made a 22 kW onboard charger standard on the Macan GTS and Turbo for the latest model year, and optional on the Macan, Macan 4 and Macan 4S, doubling their AC charging power from 11 kW, so at a three phase charging station one of those cars fills in 5 hours instead of 9 hours 45 minutes. At home the picture is unchanged: a single phase supply gives 7.4 kW to a 22 kW Macan exactly as it does to an 11 kW one, so the cheaper 32A single phase cable loses nothing on a driveway.

Does a Porsche Macan come with a charging cable?

Porsche GB describes a Mode 3 cable as part of the standard equipment for a Porsche BEV and advises keeping it in the car, which covers the Type 2 to Type 2 lead a Porsche Macan needs at home and at untethered public posts. The Porsche Mobile Charger, the unit that plugs into a domestic socket, is sold as optional equipment, so a household lead is the piece many owners find missing. A Porsche Macan Electric bought new may therefore arrive with a Type 2 cable and no Mobile Charger at all. A used Macan arrives with whatever the previous keeper left behind, so look in both boots before the wallbox is commissioned.

Can a Porsche Macan be charged from either side of the car?

Yes on AC. A Porsche Macan has a charging flap in each rear wing and Porsche GB confirms AC charging works on the left and the right, with the unused port locked automatically while the other one is charging, so only one cable can be connected at a time. Rapid DC charging, where the 800 volt system does its work through a CCS Combo 2 connection at up to 270 kW, is on the left hand side only, and those posts come with their own attached lead. For a Type 2 cable the practical effect is that the length you need is measured to whichever rear corner ends up closer to the charge point. The charging process itself is identical on either side, at the same charging power.

Does a petrol Porsche Macan need a charging cable?

No. The petrol Porsche Macan has no charging socket of any kind, so no cable on this page will connect to one, and it has now been withdrawn from sale in the UK. Everything here applies to the Porsche Macan Electric launched in 2024, which is identified by the flap in each rear wing and the Macan Electric, Macan 4, Macan 4S, GTS or Turbo badge. If there is nowhere to plug a lead in, there is nothing to buy.

Compatibility

Every electric Macan uses the same 100 kWh pack, so the battery is never the question. The charger is, and it changed for the 2026 model year. Cars up to the 2025 model year are 11 kW only, with no faster option. From the 2026 model year Porsche made 22 kW standard on the GTS and Turbo and offered it as a paid option on the Macan, Macan 4 and Macan 4S. If you have a 2026 GTS or Turbo, a three-phase cable genuinely doubles your AC charging speed at a three-phase post. At home on a single-phase supply every Macan charges at about 7.4 kW, so a 32A Type 2 cable is the right buy for the driveway. Note the petrol Macan is a different car entirely and does not plug in.

    A charging cable that connects electric vehicles (EVs) with a Type 2 connector to charging points is also equipped with a Type 2 socket. It supports faster charging speeds and is commonly used across Europe for EVs with this standard connection.

  • Type 2 to 3 Pin Charging Cable:

  • 5m - Charging Cable Length

    A 5M charging cable is the shortest length that we offer. It is a great option if you can park close to the charge point and do not need much length to reach your car.

  • 10m - Charging Cable Length

    A 10M charging cable is the most popular length. It allows you to have enough flexibility whilst still being easy enough to move. This is a great option if you cannot park close to the electricity supply.

  • 15m - Charging Cable Length

    A 15M charging cable is a great choice if you need some extra flexibility, i.e. get past another car or reach the other end of a driveway. The length of the cable does not affect the charging speed.

  • 20m - Charging Cable Length

    A 20M charging cable is the longest cable that we currently offer. 20M reaches the vast majority of locations where you would want to charge your car. Always use one continuous cable. Never join two charging cables together and never charge through an extension lead, because the join is where heat builds up.

How to choose your charge speed
  • 6amp - 12amp Adjustable

    The choice if you will charge from a standard UK 3 pin socket. It runs at the most the socket can safely supply, and the control box lets you turn the current down for a slower, gentler charge overnight or on an older circuit.

  • 16amp

    A 16amp cable will be able to charge at 3.7kW. This is the cheapest product if your car's max charge speed is 3.7kW. If you have two electric cars or are looking to purchase another it might be worth considering a faster charging cable as this could limit charge speeds moving forward.

  • 32amp

    A 32amp charging cable will be able to charge at 7.4kW, which is the most a single phase UK home supply can deliver. A 32amp cable also charges at every lower speed (for example 16amp, 3.7kW), so it is the right choice if your home charge point is 7.4kW or you mostly charge at home.

  • 32amp (3 Phase)

    A 32amp 3-phase charging cable will be able to charge at all speeds up to 22kW, so the cable never limits your charge speed at home or in public. It is also capable of charging at all lower charge speeds.
