A Peugeot e-5008 charging cable is sized around an 11 kW AC, three phase onboard charger, a unit shared by the Electric 210, the Dual Motor 325 and the 96.9 kWh Long Range 230. Battery size changes nothing about the rate. UK order books opened in November 2024 across Allure, Allure Premium, GT and GT Premium, and none of those trims alters the charging hardware either.

Check which 5008 you actually own before you order anything, because the badge now covers three separate cars. The E-5008 is battery electric. The Plug-in Hybrid 195 charges from the mains as well. The Hybrid 145 is self-charging and has no socket anywhere on it. Trim names are useless as a guide here, since Allure and GT are sold on all three. The reliable test takes ten seconds and needs no paperwork: walk to the left rear wing and look for a charging flap. If there is one, this page is for you. If the wing is smooth, the car cannot take a cable at all.

Whichever of those two you have, the lead is a Type 2 to Type 2 Charging Cable. Home wallboxes fitted in this country and untethered public posts all carry the same Type 2 socket, so the connector settles itself and only rating and length are left to choose.

On rating, the 11 kW headline assumes three phases feeding the charger at once. Three phase is an industrial and commercial arrangement, and behind a house meter there is a single live conductor and nothing else, which holds the e-5008 to 7.4 kW on a driveway whatever the wallbox is badged at. Our 32A single-phase Type 2 to Type 2 cable delivers that ceiling in full: 11 hours 15 mins for the 73 kWh cars, 14 hours 45 mins for the Long Range. The 32A three-phase lead only changes anything at a real three-phase point, where the same two figures fall to 7 hours 30 mins and 10 hours.

Avoid the 16A cable on a battery this size. It restricts the e-5008 to 3.7 kW, which turns the 73 kWh car into a 22 hour 15 min job and the Long Range into 29 hours 30 mins. Neither fits in a night, so the charge finishes on daytime electricity at the daytime price. Per hour on cheap rate you are collecting about 16 miles rather than about 31, and on a car quoted at 310 to 413 miles that gap compounds fast.

Keep a Type 2 to 3-Pin cable in the boot for the places a wallbox has never reached. It draws 2.3 kW from a 13A socket, close to 10 miles of range an hour, adjustable between 6A and 12A where the wiring is old, and IP67 sealed so rain is not an issue. Filling a 96.9 kWh pack that way takes 47 hours 30 mins, which tells you plainly what it is for and what it is not.

On length, the flap on the left rear wing sits well behind the driver's door, so a wallbox mounted by the front door of the house ends up most of a car length away from it when the e-5008 is parked nose in. That is the case for 10m. Five metres is realistic when you reverse onto the drive, or when the charge point is on the nearside wall of a garage. Communal bays, detached garages and anywhere the car cannot always park facing the same way are the 15m and 20m cases.

How do I tell if my Peugeot 5008 plugs in?

Look at the left rear wing of the Peugeot 5008 for a charging flap. The E-5008 and the Plug-in Hybrid 195 both have one and both take a Type 2 to Type 2 cable. The Hybrid 145 does not, because it is a self-charging car with no inlet fitted anywhere. Do not try to work it out from the trim, as Allure and GT are offered across all three.

Which cable is right for a Peugeot e-5008?

The 32A single-phase Type 2 to Type 2 cable is right for a Peugeot e-5008. It passes the full 7.4 kW that a single-phase British supply can give, filling the 73 kWh battery in 11 hours 15 mins and the 96.9 kWh Long Range in 14 hours 45 mins. Buying 16A instead saves a little money and roughly doubles both of those numbers.

Does the 5008 Hybrid 145 take a charging cable?

No. The 5008 Hybrid 145 is self-charging, keeps its small battery topped up from the engine and braking, and carries no charging socket at all, so no cable of any kind will connect to it. Only the E-5008 and the Plug-in Hybrid 195 need one. This is the mistake worth ruling out before spending anything.

Would a 22kW cable speed up a Peugeot e-5008?

Not at a house. A Peugeot e-5008 accepts a maximum of 11 kW on AC, so 22 kW is never reached, and a single-phase domestic supply already limits the car to 7.4 kW before the cable is even considered. Plug into a genuine three-phase post at a workplace and the three-phase lead does earn its money, taking the 73 kWh car to 7 hours 30 mins and the Long Range to 10 hours.

How long does the Long Range e-5008 take to charge at home?

About 14 hours 45 mins from empty for the 96.9 kWh Peugeot e-5008 Long Range on a 7.4 kW wallbox with a 32A cable. That is longer than one night, though it matters less than it sounds, because 413 miles of WLTP range means few owners ever run the pack down that far. A typical evening top-up puts back about 32 miles for every hour connected.

Where do I measure from for a Peugeot e-5008 cable?

Measure from the wallbox to the left rear wing of the Peugeot e-5008, with the car sitting exactly where you leave it overnight. Parked nose in on a driveway, that flap ends up towards the road and 10m is the sensible order. Reverse in, or mount the unit on the nearside wall of a garage, and 5m will do it. Longer runs to a detached garage or a shared bay are what the 15m and 20m leads exist for.

  • 5m - Charging Cable Length

    A 5M charging cable is the shortest length that we offer. It is a great option if you can park close to the charge point and do not need much length to reach your car.

  • 10m - Charging Cable Length

    A 10M charging cable is the most popular length. It allows you to have enough flexibility whilst still being easy enough to move. This is a great option if you cannot park close to the electricity supply.

  • 15m - Charging Cable Length

    A 15M charging cable is a great choice if you need some extra flexibility, i.e. get past another car or reach the other end of a driveway. The length of the cable does not affect the charging speed.

  • 20m - Charging Cable Length

    A 20M charging cable is the longest cable that we currently offer. 20M reaches the vast majority of locations where you would want to charge your car. Always use one continuous cable. Never join two charging cables together and never charge through an extension lead, because the join is where heat builds up.

How to choose your charge speed
  • 6amp - 12amp Adjustable

    The choice if you will charge from a standard UK 3 pin socket. It runs at the most the socket can safely supply, and the control box lets you turn the current down for a slower, gentler charge overnight or on an older circuit.

  • 16amp

    A 16amp cable will be able to charge at 3.7kW. This is the cheapest product if your car's max charge speed is 3.7kW. If you have two electric cars or are looking to purchase another it might be worth considering a faster charging cable as this could limit charge speeds moving forward.

  • 32amp

    A 32amp charging cable will be able to charge at 7.4kW, which is the most a single phase UK home supply can deliver. A 32amp cable also charges at every lower speed (for example 16amp, 3.7kW), so it is the right choice if your home charge point is 7.4kW or you mostly charge at home.

  • 32amp (3 Phase)

    A 32amp 3-phase charging cable will be able to charge at all speeds up to 22kW, so the cable never limits your charge speed at home or in public. It is also capable of charging at all lower charge speeds.
