Product Description

The Peugeot e-308 takes 11 kW AC and always has, through both the 54 kWh original and the 58 kWh car that replaced it in November 2025. Since 11 kW is a three phase rating and a house is fed by one phase, the practical rate on your driveway is 7.4 kW, which a 32A single phase Type 2 to Type 2 charging cable supplies in full.

Both the e-308 hatchback and the e-308 SW estate use a Type 2 to Type 2 Charging Cable, connected through the Type 2 part of the CCS Combo 2 inlet. Body style makes no difference to charging.

Battery size does, and Peugeot changed it partway through. Cars registered up to late 2025 carry a 54 kWh pack giving around 257 miles in the hatch and 254 in the SW. From November 2025 Peugeot fitted a 58.4 kWh pack with 55.4 kWh usable, lifting range to 279 and 275 miles. Peugeot publishes the usable figure on the newer car but never did on the older one, so charge times for the two are not calculated on quite the same basis.

What the change does not affect is which cable you want. Both cars accept 11 kW, so both take 7.4 kW at home, and the 32A single phase lead is the correct choice either way. The larger battery simply takes about 45 minutes longer to fill, 8 hours 30 minutes against 7 hours 45 minutes, while adding more miles for the wait. Every e-308 gains roughly 37 miles of range an hour on that cable regardless of which pack it has, because the bigger battery and the longer range scale together.

Drop to a 16A cable and the rate falls to 3.7 kW, so an e-308 gains about 19 miles an hour and takes 15 to 17 hours to fill depending on battery. A seven hour cheap rate window then returns about 130 miles instead of 260. On a car with a real world range near 250 miles, that is the difference between charging once a week and charging every other night.

The 22 kW three phase cable is capped by the e-308 at 11 kW, and even that requires three phases arriving at the socket. Homes are supplied with a single phase, so a three phase cable spends its extra cost on capacity your house cannot use. At a three phase workplace charger the e-308 does reach 11 kW and about 56 miles an hour, which is the one situation where it is worth buying.

A Type 2 to 3-Pin Charging Cable is the sensible second lead. At 2.3 kW an e-308 picks up around 12 miles an hour and needs 25 to 27 hours from empty, so it is a way of drawing charge from an ordinary socket when visiting somewhere without a charge point, not a replacement for a wallbox.

Peugeot did not publish a usable figure for this pack, so 50.8 kWh here is an independent estimate. The e-308 SW covers 254 miles rather than 257, a difference too small to change the cable answer.

Peugeot states 55.4 kWh usable for this battery, so these times rest on a manufacturer figure. The SW estate returns 275 miles. In cold conditions and at higher speeds the real figure drops.

What cable does a Peugeot e-308 need?

A Type 2 to Type 2 charging cable, and the 32A single phase version is the one to buy. The Peugeot e-308 accepts 11 kW on three phases, which becomes 7.4 kW on a British home supply, and the 32A single phase lead carries exactly that.

Which battery does my e-308 have?

Peugeot e-308 models registered before November 2025 have the 54 kWh battery and a WLTP range of about 257 miles in hatchback form. Cars from November 2025 onwards carry 58.4 kWh with 55.4 kWh usable and 279 miles. Both accept the same 11 kW, so the cable you need is the same either way.

Does the e-308 SW estate charge differently from the hatch?

No. The Peugeot e-308 SW uses the same battery and the same 11 kW onboard charger as the hatchback, so charging times are identical. The estate covers two to four fewer WLTP miles, which is not enough to change any charging decision.

Would a 22kW cable speed up an e-308?

Not at a house. The Peugeot e-308 accepts a maximum of 11 kW and reaching it requires a three phase supply, which British homes do not have. Plugged into a house, the 22 kW lead and the 32A single phase lead move an e-308 at exactly the same rate. On a three phase commercial charger the e-308 completes a charge in about 5 hours 45 minutes rather than 8 hours 30 minutes.

How long a cable does a Peugeot e-308 need?

The Peugeot e-308 puts its charging flap on the rear left wing, and the hatch is about 4.4 metres long against 4.6 for the SW. Reverse onto a driveway with the wallbox on the left and 5m works. Park forwards and the flap sits at the opposite end from the wall, which makes 10m the safer buy, and SW owners with a longer car should lean that way regardless.

How far will an e-308 go on one night of charging?

A 32A single phase cable gives a Peugeot e-308 about 260 miles across a seven hour off peak window, which is a full charge on either battery. The same window on a 16A cable delivers roughly 130 miles, so half the car's range sits unused each morning.

Compatibility

The E-308 is one of the few Peugeots where the 11 kW three-phase charger comes as standard rather than as an option. That is worth knowing, but it changes less than you might think: a UK home supply is single phase, so the car still charges at 7.4 kW on your wallbox. The 11 kW only appears on a three-phase public post. Note also that the 308 name covers three completely different powertrains, and only two of them plug in. The E-308 is the full electric car; the 308 HYBRID 180 and 225 are plug-in hybrids with a much smaller battery and a much slower charger; the 308 petrol and diesel have no socket at all.

    A 10M charging cable is the most popular length. It allows you to have enough flexibility whilst still being easy enough to move. This is a great option if you cannot park close to the electricity supply.

  • 15m - Charging Cable Length

    A 15M charging cable is a great choice if you need some extra flexibility, i.e. get past another car or reach the other end of a driveway. The length of the cable does not affect the charging speed.

  • 20m - Charging Cable Length

    A 20M charging cable is the longest cable that we currently offer. 20M reaches the vast majority of locations where you would want to charge your car. Always use one continuous cable. Never join two charging cables together and never charge through an extension lead, because the join is where heat builds up.

How to choose your charge speed
  • 6amp - 12amp Adjustable

    The choice if you will charge from a standard UK 3 pin socket. It runs at the most the socket can safely supply, and the control box lets you turn the current down for a slower, gentler charge overnight or on an older circuit.

  • 16amp

    A 16amp cable will be able to charge at 3.7kW. This is the cheapest product if your car's max charge speed is 3.7kW. If you have two electric cars or are looking to purchase another it might be worth considering a faster charging cable as this could limit charge speeds moving forward.

  • 32amp

    A 32amp charging cable will be able to charge at 7.4kW, which is the most a single phase UK home supply can deliver. A 32amp cable also charges at every lower speed (for example 16amp, 3.7kW), so it is the right choice if your home charge point is 7.4kW or you mostly charge at home.

  • 32amp (3 Phase)

    A 32amp 3-phase charging cable will be able to charge at all speeds up to 22kW, so the cable never limits your charge speed at home or in public. It is also capable of charging at all lower charge speeds.
