Type 2 to Type 2, 32A single phase (5m / 10m / 15m / 20m)

The Peugeot e-2008 takes 7.4 kW on AC as standard, and an 11 kW three-phase charger was a factory option on some cars. This cable delivers the standard figure in full, and a British home supply is single phase, so it cannot be beaten on a driveway either way.

Every Peugeot e-2008 takes a Type 2 to Type 2 cable, and for almost every owner the 32A single phase version is the one to order. It draws the full 7.4 kW a UK home supply can provide, which is also the standard onboard charger rating on the car, so cable and vehicle match exactly.

Battery size is the only thing that changes the timings. Cars from the 2020 launch until mid 2023 use the 50 kWh pack, 46.3 kWh of it usable, and need about 7 hours from empty at 7.4 kW. In June 2023 Peugeot fitted the larger 54 kWh pack, 50.8 kWh usable, alongside the step from 136hp to 156hp, and that car takes roughly 7 hours 45 minutes. Because the change came about two years before the e-208 received the same pack, a 2023 or 2024 e-2008 is very likely the longer range car.

An 11 kW three phase charger sat on the options list throughout, and it was fitted as standard only on the 54 kWh First Edition. It is a three phase rating, so it does nothing on a normal UK home supply. If you have that car and use three phase posts, the 32A three phase cable brings a full charge down to around 5 hours 15 minutes. Everyone else should ignore it and buy the standard 32A cable.

The 16A cable works but is slow for a battery this size, at about 14 hours 15 minutes on the 50 kWh car. The Type 2 to 3 Pin cable is a backup for nights away from a charge point and needs the best part of a day.

Note that the PureTech petrol, the BlueHDi diesel and the 48V Hybrid versions of the 2008 have no charging socket and take no cable.

Which cable does the Peugeot e-2008 need?

A Type 2 to Type 2 cable, and the 32A single phase version for nearly everyone. The standard onboard charger is 7.4 kW and a UK home supply delivers 7.4 kW, so the 32A cable is a perfect match. Expect about 7 hours from empty on the 50 kWh car.

How do I tell a 50 kWh e-2008 from a 54 kWh one?

Date and power output. Cars registered from launch to mid 2023 have the 50 kWh pack and 136hp. From June 2023 Peugeot moved to 54 kWh and 156hp, roughly two years earlier than the same change on the e-208, so most 2023 and 2024 cars are the larger battery.

Is the three phase cable worth it?

Only if your car has the optional 11 kW charger, standard solely on the 54 kWh First Edition, and only where a three phase supply exists. It cuts a full charge to about 5 hours 15 minutes on the 54 kWh car. At home in the UK the supply is single phase, so it changes nothing.

Can I use a 16A cable instead?

Yes, and it will charge the car, but at 3.7 kW rather than 7.4 kW. That is roughly 14 hours 15 minutes on the 50 kWh e-2008 and 15 hours 30 minutes on the 54 kWh version. It is a reasonable spare to keep in the boot, not the cable to rely on.

Does the petrol 2008 use the same cable?

No. The PureTech petrol, the BlueHDi diesel and the 48V Hybrid have no charging socket, so none of these cables will fit. Only the e-2008, the fully electric version, plugs in. If your car has no charging inlet it cannot use anything sold on this page.

Which length should I order?

5m if the charge point is close to the car and the parking position never changes. 10m if you park across a drive, kerbside, or need the cable to reach round the car at a public post. Buy the shortest length that reaches comfortably, since longer cables are heavier.

Compatibility

The e-2008 is the taller sister of the e-208 and shares its charging hardware, so the same rules apply: Type 2 on every car, 7.4 kW as standard, and 11 kW three-phase as an option that does nothing useful on a normal UK single-phase home supply. Peugeot gave the e-2008 the bigger 54 kWh pack in June 2023, roughly two years before the e-208 got it, so a 2023 or 2024 e-2008 is very likely the long-range car. The only version where 11 kW came as standard was the First Edition trim.

  • 5m - Charging Cable Length

    A 5M charging cable is the shortest length that we offer. It is a great option if you can park close to the charge point and do not need much length to reach your car.

  • 10m - Charging Cable Length

    A 10M charging cable is the most popular length. It allows you to have enough flexibility whilst still being easy enough to move. This is a great option if you cannot park close to the electricity supply.

  • 15m - Charging Cable Length

    A 15M charging cable is a great choice if you need some extra flexibility, i.e. get past another car or reach the other end of a driveway. The length of the cable does not affect the charging speed.

  • 20m - Charging Cable Length

    A 20M charging cable is the longest cable that we currently offer. 20M reaches the vast majority of locations where you would want to charge your car. Always use one continuous cable. Never join two charging cables together and never charge through an extension lead, because the join is where heat builds up.

How to choose your charge speed
  • 6amp - 12amp Adjustable

    The choice if you will charge from a standard UK 3 pin socket. It runs at the most the socket can safely supply, and the control box lets you turn the current down for a slower, gentler charge overnight or on an older circuit.

  • 16amp

    A 16amp cable will be able to charge at 3.7kW. This is the cheapest product if your car's max charge speed is 3.7kW. If you have two electric cars or are looking to purchase another it might be worth considering a faster charging cable as this could limit charge speeds moving forward.

  • 32amp

    A 32amp charging cable will be able to charge at 7.4kW, which is the most a single phase UK home supply can deliver. A 32amp cable also charges at every lower speed (for example 16amp, 3.7kW), so it is the right choice if your home charge point is 7.4kW or you mostly charge at home.

  • 32amp (3 Phase)

    A 32amp 3-phase charging cable will be able to charge at all speeds up to 22kW, so the cable never limits your charge speed at home or in public. It is also capable of charging at all lower charge speeds.
