The Mercedes EQB accepts up to 11 kW on AC. A 22 kW lead covers the quickest version built and is the one to bring to a three-phase post.

Charging on your own driveway only? Domestic supply here is single phase and caps the car at 7.4 kW. The 32A single-phase cable (5m / 10m / 15m / 20m) delivers that in full and costs less.

Every Mercedes EQB sold in the UK, the EQB 250, the EQB 250+, the EQB 300 4MATIC and the EQB 350 4MATIC, takes its AC charge through a Type 2 inlet at up to 11 kW, so one Type 2 to Type 2 Charging Cable fits the entire range, and a domestic charge point fills any of them at 7.4 kW. The 11 kW three phase onboard charger is standard on every EQB and Mercedes offered no quicker AC option, so the badge on the tailgate decides the size of the battery and never the rate the car will accept. What differs between EQB owners is not amperage. It is reach. This is the seven seat car in the Mercedes electric range, 4.684 metres of it, and it lives on a drive that already holds something else: a second car, a trailer, bikes against the garage door. Which slot the EQB ends up in on a busy evening is what sizes a Mercedes EQB charging cable.

Choosing a Mercedes EQB charging cable for home

Full speed at home: the 32A single phase cable. It appears in the option list under the name 32amp (7.2kW) and moves 7.4 kW, which is the ceiling of a British domestic supply and the quickest an EQB will ever charge on a driveway. A 70.5 kWh EQB 250+ goes from flat to full in 10 hours 45 minutes on it and banks about 34 miles of range per hour connected; a 66.5 kWh car takes 10 hours 15 minutes at about 28 miles an hour. Works, but no faster at home: the 32A three phase cable, sold as 32amp - 3 Phase (22kW). The 11 kW on an EQB specification sheet is measured with three phases reaching the car at once. A house is fed by one of them, one phase carries 7.4 kW, and the extra cores in the thicker lead have nothing at the other end to draw from. Somewhere with a real three phase feed, a workplace bay or a yard, an EQB pulls its full 11 kW and a 66.5 kWh pack is done in 6 hours 45 minutes. Too slow for this car: the 16A cable, labelled 16amp (3.6kW). Held to 3.7 kW, an EQB 250+ needs 21 hours 30 minutes from empty, and a seven hour off-peak window returns roughly 119 miles against about 238 miles from the 32A across the same stretch of cheap rate. On a car that has to be full for a school run and a Saturday fixture, that difference is the whole argument.

The charge socket is let into the rear wing on the driver's side of a UK car, just behind the rear door. Length is measured to that corner along the route the lead travels, over the ground and around whatever is in the way. Reverse an EQB onto an empty drive with the wallbox on the offside and the 5 metre reaches easily. Few seven seat households have an empty drive. Put a second car alongside, or nose the EQB in so the socket finishes 4.684 metres from the front bumper, and the 10 metre is what still connects when the EQB got home last and took the space left. The 15 metre and 20 metre cover a wallbox inside a garage the car sits outside, a bay two along in shared parking, or a unit at the house with the EQB at the top of a long drive. Run the tape on an evening when everything is home, not on a Sunday morning when the drive is clear.

The Type 2 to 3-Pin Charging Cable is the one that travels. Out of a household 13 amp socket it pulls 2.3 kW, about 10 miles of range an hour on an EQB 250+ and about 9 on the 66.5 kWh cars, so a night plugged in at a rented cottage or a relative's garage is worth 60 to 70 miles. Its control box carries a Type B RCD and its current dials between 6 and 12 amps to suit older wiring. Seven seats get used for trips that do not begin and end at a home wallbox, which is when this lead earns its space in the boot. Filling 70.5 kWh this way would take 34 hours 45 minutes, so it is the cable that keeps an EQB moving, not the one that charges it.

Sealing matters most on a lead that lives outdoors, so the Type 2 to Type 2 holds an IP55 rating and the Type 2 to 3-Pin an IP67 one. The build standards differ as well. Usable capacities are EV Database measurements of the 73.9 kWh and 69.7 kWh packs. WLTP range is published as a band that shifts with wheel size and specification, 290 to 321 miles for the EQB 250+ and 248 to 255 miles for the 4MATIC cars, and the tables take the top of each. Cold mornings, motorway pace and a full load of seven all pull the miles per hour below what the table shows. Mercedes-Benz EQB production ended in early 2026 after the model came off the UK price list, which means a growing share of buyers are looking at used cars that may no longer carry the leads supplied with them when new.

Which Type 2 cable should a Mercedes EQB owner order?

The 32A single phase Type 2 to Type 2 cable, in whichever length reaches the car. A Mercedes EQB accepts 7.4 kW from a house supply, this cable carries all of it, and no other lead charges an EQB faster on a driveway. It also drops back happily to 16A charge points, and it is the cable to keep in the car for untethered Type 2 posts at retail parks, leisure centres and council car parks, where the driver supplies the lead. Rapid DC charging runs through the CCS section of the same inlet and arrives with its own tethered cable, so it asks nothing of the boot.

Do the 66.5 kWh and 70.5 kWh Mercedes EQB batteries charge at the same speed?

Yes. Both Mercedes EQB batteries sit behind the same 11 kW onboard charger, so the maximum charge rate never changes, only the time it runs for. On a 7.4 kW home charge point the 70.5 kWh EQB 250+ fills in 10 hours 45 minutes and the 66.5 kWh EQB 250, 300 4MATIC and 350 4MATIC fill in 10 hours 15 minutes. Half an hour apart from empty is not a reason to buy a different cable.

Is a 22kW three phase cable a waste of money on a Mercedes EQB?

On a driveway, yes. A Mercedes EQB will not take more than 11 kW on AC, and one phase into a house carries 7.4 kW, so the 22kW lead and the 32A single phase lead charge the car at exactly the same rate there. Where three phases really do arrive at the socket, usually a workplace or a commercial site, the EQB draws 11 kW and a 66.5 kWh car finishes in 6 hours 45 minutes rather than 10 hours 15 minutes. If the EQB only ever charges at home, the money buys nothing.

How long should a Mercedes EQB charging cable be on a shared driveway?

Ten metres for most, five if the drive is always clear. The Mercedes EQB is 4.684 metres long with its socket on the offside rear wing, so a car reversed in next to the wallbox is served by 5 metres, while a car parked nose in, or second in a queue behind another vehicle, needs the lead to run the length of the EQB and back along the drive. That is the 10 metre. The 15 and 20 metre lengths are for detached garages, long approaches and shared bays.

Can a Mercedes EQB be filled from empty inside an off-peak window?

No, and it does not need to be. A Mercedes EQB takes 10 hours 15 minutes to 10 hours 45 minutes from flat at 7.4 kW, which is longer than any overnight cheap rate slot, so what matters for EV charging at home is how much goes in during the window. Seven hours on the 32A single phase cable is worth about 238 miles on the EQB 250+ and about 196 miles on the 66.5 kWh cars, and a family EQB comes home part full most nights rather than empty.

Will a Mercedes EQB charge from a household socket on a weekend away?

Yes, using a Type 2 to 3-Pin Charging Cable, sold elsewhere as a granny charger or a 3 pin lead. It runs a Mercedes EQB at 2.3 kW off any household 13 amp socket, roughly 9 to 10 miles of range an hour depending on which battery the car has, so an overnight stay returns 60 to 70 miles. Use a wall socket directly, never an extension lead or a cable reel, and turn the current down with the 6 to 12 amp adjustment where the wiring is old. A Type B RCD inside the control box protects the circuit while it runs. A full charge would take well over a day, so it is the cable for somewhere with no charge point, not a substitute for one.

  • 5m - Charging Cable Length

    A 5M charging cable is the shortest length that we offer. It is a great option if you can park close to the charge point and do not need much length to reach your car.

  • 10m - Charging Cable Length

    A 10M charging cable is the most popular length. It allows you to have enough flexibility whilst still being easy enough to move. This is a great option if you cannot park close to the electricity supply.

  • 15m - Charging Cable Length

    A 15M charging cable is a great choice if you need some extra flexibility, i.e. get past another car or reach the other end of a driveway. The length of the cable does not affect the charging speed.

  • 20m - Charging Cable Length

    A 20M charging cable is the longest cable that we currently offer. 20M reaches the vast majority of locations where you would want to charge your car. Always use one continuous cable. Never join two charging cables together and never charge through an extension lead, because the join is where heat builds up.

How to choose your charge speed
  • 6amp - 12amp Adjustable

    The choice if you will charge from a standard UK 3 pin socket. It runs at the most the socket can safely supply, and the control box lets you turn the current down for a slower, gentler charge overnight or on an older circuit.

  • 16amp

    A 16amp cable will be able to charge at 3.7kW. This is the cheapest product if your car's max charge speed is 3.7kW. If you have two electric cars or are looking to purchase another it might be worth considering a faster charging cable as this could limit charge speeds moving forward.

  • 32amp

    A 32amp charging cable will be able to charge at 7.4kW, which is the most a single phase UK home supply can deliver. A 32amp cable also charges at every lower speed (for example 16amp, 3.7kW), so it is the right choice if your home charge point is 7.4kW or you mostly charge at home.

  • 32amp (3 Phase)

    A 32amp 3-phase charging cable will be able to charge at all speeds up to 22kW, so the cable never limits your charge speed at home or in public. It is also capable of charging at all lower charge speeds.
