The Mercedes EQA accepts up to 11 kW on AC. The 22 kW cable matches the highest rate the model reaches, and a three-phase supply is where that rate is actually reachable.

If it only ever charges at home, buy down. A house supply is single phase, so the ceiling is 7.4 kW, and the 32A single-phase cable (5m / 10m / 15m / 20m) hands over every watt of it.

Every Mercedes EQA sold in the UK since 2021, the 250, the 250+, the 300 4MATIC and the 350 4MATIC, accepts a maximum charge rate of 11 kW on AC through a Type 2 connector, so one Type 2 to Type 2 Charging Cable covers all four, and a home wallbox charges any of them at 7.4 kW. Mercedes-Benz UK's own price and specification document for the 2025 car quotes 11 kW AC for both the EQA 250+ and the EQA 300 4MATIC, and the same document settles a question EQA owners ask more than most: what is in the boot. One item is listed as standard, a 5 metre Type 2 (Mode 3) cable for wallboxes and public posts. Nothing for a domestic 13 amp socket appears anywhere on the standard or optional lists, and owners of the earliest cars report that a 3-pin lead Mercedes once supplied was later dropped. Mercedes showed the EQA's replacement, the electric GLA, in July 2026, so from here on most EQA buyers are buying used, and a used car may have lost even that one lead. A Mercedes EQA charging cable purchase is therefore usually about the two things the factory kit does not cover: a socket with no wallbox, and a wallbox more than 5 metres from the charge flap.

Which Mercedes EQA charging cable suits home EV chargers

Full speed at home: the 32A single phase Type 2 to Type 2 cable. Sold under the label 32amp (7.2kW), it moves 7.4 kW, which is the whole output of a domestic wallbox and takes a 70.5 kWh EQA 250+ from flat to full in about 10 hours 45 minutes, adding roughly 36 miles for every hour on the plug. It is also the lead to carry for untethered Type 2 charging points at supermarkets, hotels and car parks, which need the driver's own cable, whereas rapid chargers have theirs attached. Works, but no faster at home: the 32A three phase cable. The EQA's 11 kW rating is a three phase figure, and a house has one phase to offer, so on a driveway this cable and the single phase one charge the car at an identical 7.4 kW. Where a three phase feed exists, typically an office car park or a depot, the EQA pulls its full 11 kW and the 250+ finishes in 7 hours 15 minutes. If your parking is at home only, that saving never arrives. Too slow for this battery: the 16A cable. Labelled 16amp (3.6kW), it runs at 3.7 kW and needs 21 hours 30 minutes to fill a 250+, so a seven hour off-peak tariff window restores about 127 miles rather than the 254 miles the 32A manages in the same seven hours. On a 66.5 kWh car the gap is 103 miles against 206.

Length is where the boot lead runs out. The EQA is 4.46 metres long and its charge flap sits on the offside rear quarter, where a GLA carries its fuel filler. Reverse onto a drive with the wallbox on that side of the house and the factory 5 metres is fine, which is why our own 5 metre is mainly bought as a second cable for work or for a partner's car. Drive in forwards, or charge across the width of a double drive, and the lead has to clear the tailgate and travel the length of the car, which is the case for the 10 metre 32A. The 15 metre and 20 metre versions suit a terrace where the car sits two bays along from the socket or a wallbox on a garage the car never goes inside. Measure from the wallbox to the rear offside corner with the car parked as it normally ends up, not as you would like it to.

The Type 2 to 3-Pin Charging Cable fills the hole in the EQA's standard kit. Usually called a granny charger, it pulls 2.3 kW out of a normal 13 amp wall socket, roughly 11 miles of range an hour on a 250+ and about 9 miles on the 66.5 kWh cars, and a night on it is worth 60 to 80 miles. Its current is adjustable between 6 and 12 amps, so the power can be turned down on an older ring main, and a Type B RCD is built into the control box. Nobody should plan to fill a 70.5 kWh vehicle battery this way, but a weekend at a house with no charge point, or the fortnight between delivery and wallbox installation, is exactly the gap it closes.

The seven seat version of this platform has its own page at Mercedes EQB charging cable, and the whole range is listed under Mercedes charging cables. Compatibility comes down to the connectors and the standards behind them: IEC 62196-2 governs the Type 2 to Type 2 lead, which is CE marked, holds an IP55 rating for a life spent on a driveway, and has a working range of -30C to +50C. IEC 62752 governs the Type 2 to 3-Pin, which is CE marked, sealed to IP67 and good for -30C to +60C. Both products carry a 2 year manufacturer's warranty, both ship free by next working day to any UK address, and a length that turns out wrong goes back free inside 30 days.

Note that Mercedes quotes EQA range as a span that moves with wheel size and trim, 311 to 346 miles for the current 250+ and 272 to 280 miles for the 300 4MATIC, and the tables use the top of each span. Usable capacities are EV Database measurements; the packs are 69.7 kWh and 73.9 kWh gross. A frosty morning or an hour at 70 mph will pull the miles per hour figure down noticeably.

What charging cable does Mercedes supply with a UK EQA?

One cable: a 5 metre Type 2 (Mode 3) lead for wallboxes and public charging stations, listed as standard equipment in Mercedes-Benz UK's 2025 EQA specification. No cable for a household 13 amp socket is listed as standard or as an option, and EQA owners on the Mercedes EQ owners' forum report that the 3-pin lead supplied with some early cars was withdrawn. Check the boot before ordering: a used EQA can arrive with the Type 2 lead, or with nothing at all.

Does the EQA 250+ take a different Type 2 to Type 2 cable from the EQA 250, 300 or 350?

No. The 11 kW onboard charger and the Type 2 inlet are shared by every Mercedes-Benz EQA, so a single 32A Type 2 to Type 2 cable serves all four badges. What changes is the battery: 66.5 kWh in the 250 and in the 300 and 350 4MATIC built to 2024, 70.5 kWh in the 250+ and in the 300 4MATIC from 2025, which adds about half an hour to a full charge and nothing to the cable choice.

Is there any point in a 22kW cable for a Mercedes EQA?

Only for an owner who regularly parks at a three phase supply. A Mercedes EQA cannot accept more than 11 kW on AC, and on a single phase house supply the 22kW cable delivers 7.4 kW, exactly as the cheaper 32A single phase cable does. On a genuine three phase feed at work the 66.5 kWh EQA fills in 6 hours 45 minutes instead of 10 hours 15 minutes, and that is the one situation where the extra cost is repaid.

How many miles does a Mercedes EQA gain overnight on a 7.4 kW wallbox?

About 254 miles on an EQA 250+ across a seven hour off-peak window, and about 206 miles on the 66.5 kWh EQA 250, 300 4MATIC and 350 4MATIC, using the 32A single phase cable. A full charge from empty runs to 10 hours 45 minutes and 10 hours 15 minutes respectively, so an EQA that comes home nearly flat will not quite finish inside a seven hour tariff, while an EQA plugged in at a third full will.

Can a Mercedes EQA be charged from a 3 pin plug?

Yes, with a Type 2 to 3-Pin Charging Cable, which gives a Mercedes EQA 2.3 kW from a standard 13 amp socket and roughly 9 to 11 miles of range per hour depending on the battery. A full charge takes 32 to 35 hours, which rules it out as the everyday method, but it is the cable that gets an EQA through a stay somewhere with no charge point, and it is the one Mercedes does not put in the boot.

Where is the charge port on a Mercedes EQA and how does that set the cable length?

On the right hand rear quarter panel, the offside of a UK car, above the rear wheel. That puts the socket 4.46 metres from the nose, so a Mercedes EQA parked nose in needs the cable to reach past the whole car to a wallbox by the house wall, and 10 metres is the safe order. Reversed in with the wallbox on the driver's side, 5 metres is enough, and Mercedes's own 5 metre lead already covers that position.

    A charging cable that connects electric vehicles (EVs) with a Type 2 connector to charging points is also equipped with a Type 2 socket. It supports faster charging speeds and is commonly used across Europe for EVs with this standard connection.

  • Type 2 to 3 Pin Charging Cable:

  • 5m - Charging Cable Length

    A 5M charging cable is the shortest length that we offer. It is a great option if you can park close to the charge point and do not need much length to reach your car.

  • 10m - Charging Cable Length

    A 10M charging cable is the most popular length. It allows you to have enough flexibility whilst still being easy enough to move. This is a great option if you cannot park close to the electricity supply.

  • 15m - Charging Cable Length

    A 15M charging cable is a great choice if you need some extra flexibility, i.e. get past another car or reach the other end of a driveway. The length of the cable does not affect the charging speed.

  • 20m - Charging Cable Length

    A 20M charging cable is the longest cable that we currently offer. 20M reaches the vast majority of locations where you would want to charge your car. Always use one continuous cable. Never join two charging cables together and never charge through an extension lead, because the join is where heat builds up.

How to choose your charge speed
  • 6amp - 12amp Adjustable

    The choice if you will charge from a standard UK 3 pin socket. It runs at the most the socket can safely supply, and the control box lets you turn the current down for a slower, gentler charge overnight or on an older circuit.

  • 16amp

    A 16amp cable will be able to charge at 3.7kW. This is the cheapest product if your car's max charge speed is 3.7kW. If you have two electric cars or are looking to purchase another it might be worth considering a faster charging cable as this could limit charge speeds moving forward.

  • 32amp

    A 32amp charging cable will be able to charge at 7.4kW, which is the most a single phase UK home supply can deliver. A 32amp cable also charges at every lower speed (for example 16amp, 3.7kW), so it is the right choice if your home charge point is 7.4kW or you mostly charge at home.

  • 32amp (3 Phase)

    A 32amp 3-phase charging cable will be able to charge at all speeds up to 22kW, so the cable never limits your charge speed at home or in public. It is also capable of charging at all lower charge speeds.
