Product Description

At up to 300 miles WLTP the B05 has the longest range of any Leapmotor sold in Britain, and it gets there by being efficient rather than by carrying a huge battery. The pack is the same 67.1 kWh as the B10, but the B05 travels further on it. That efficiency is worth understanding, because it changes what a charging cable is actually buying you.

The useful way to think about home charging is not empty to full, which almost nobody does, but how many miles you can buy inside a cheap overnight window. Most low-rate EV tariffs give you somewhere between five and seven hours at the reduced price. Here is what that window is worth on a B05.

On our 32A single-phase Type 2 to Type 2 cable the car draws 7.4 kW, so a six hour window puts in about 44 kWh, which on a B05 is close to 200 miles of range at the cheapest electricity you can buy. On a 16A cable the same six hours delivers 3.7 kW, about 22 kWh, or roughly 100 miles. Same tariff, same window, half the miles. That is the whole argument for the 32A cable in one line.

The socket itself is a Type 2, the UK and European standard, so the cable you need is a Type 2 to Type 2. Nothing about the B05 is unusual on the connector, only on the speed.

What the 11 kW rating means for a B05

The B05's onboard charger is rated at 11 kW. That is a three-phase number. Homes in Britain are supplied with a single phase, so the most your house can give the car is 7.4 kW no matter which cable or wallbox you fit. The 32A single-phase cable delivers that in full, and a complete charge takes about ten and a quarter hours at 33 miles of range an hour.

Three-phase supplies do exist at workplaces, farms and industrial units. On one of those, a 3-Phase 32A cable lets the B05 take all 11 kW, which is seven hours from empty and about 49 miles an hour, the fastest AC charging in the Leapmotor range. Only buy it if you know you have three phases available, because on a house it performs identically to the standard 32A cable.

Times use the 67.1 kWh capacity. Range added per hour is derived from the car's WLTP efficiency and will fall in cold weather and at motorway speeds.

The B05 is listed as arriving with a Type 2 AC cable and a domestic 3-pin cable, so look in the boot first. Leapmotor does not state the AC cable's current rating, and as the numbers above show it makes a large difference, so check the plug moulding for 16A or 32A before deciding whether you need ours. Length is the other common reason to buy a second cable, since supplied cables are typically 5m.

Our Type 2 to 3-Pin cable is the one to keep in the boot for places with no charger at all. Ten miles an hour is slow on a 300 mile car, but an overnight stint at a cottage or a relative's house is still worth about 130 miles, and the IP67 sealing means it can stay outside while it works.

Lengths run from 5m to 20m. Measure from your wallbox to where the charge flap sits when the car is parked as it normally would be, then allow slack so the cable is not stretched taut. 10m suits most driveways, 15m and 20m are for detached garages and shared parking. A longer cable does not charge any more slowly. Every cable ships CE certified, IP55 sealed on the Type 2 to Type 2 and IP67 on the Type 2 to 3-Pin, rated from -30C to +50C, or +60C for the 3-pin, with a 2 year manufacturer's warranty and free next working day UK delivery.

FAQs

Leapmotor B05 Charging Cable FAQs

How many miles can I add in one cheap-rate window?

Around 200 on a 32A cable, assuming a six hour low-rate window and 7.4 kW. That covers most people's entire week, which is why the ten and a quarter hour empty-to-full figure rarely matters in practice. On a 16A cable the same window gives you about 100 miles.

Do I need to charge a B05 to 100 percent?

Only before a long trip. Day to day, charging to 80 percent is the usual advice for a battery like this and leaves you around 240 miles, which is more than almost any daily routine needs. Charging to 80 rather than 100 also happens to take place at the faster part of the charge curve.

The B05 and B10 have the same battery, so why do the miles per hour differ?

Because the B05 is more efficient. Both take 7.4 kW at home and both hold 67.1 kWh, but the B05 travels roughly 4.5 miles per kWh against the B10's 4.0. Every hour on the same cable therefore buys you about three more miles in a B05.

Does the B05 come with a cable already?

Leapmotor lists a Type 2 cable and a 3-pin cable as standard equipment, but specification lists change and vary by trim, so check your own order paperwork and the boot. Where a cable is included it is usually 5m, which is the most common reason B05 owners buy a 10m one from us.

Can I make the car charge only during the cheap hours?

Yes, and it is worth setting up. You can schedule charging in the car's own menus, in the Leapmotor app, or on the wallbox, whichever you find easier. Only use one of them at a time, because two competing schedules is the usual reason an owner wakes up to an uncharged car.

Will a 20m cable charge slower than a 5m one?

No, not to any degree you could measure. Our cables are sized so that voltage drop across the full length is negligible at 32A, which is exactly why cable gauge matters and why a longer cable is heavier. Buy the length that reaches comfortably rather than the shortest you can get away with.

Leapmotor B05, 2026 on67.1 kWhType 211 kW, three phaseType 2 to Type 2, 32A single phase

The B05 shares its battery and onboard charger with the B10, so the cable choice is the same. On a UK single-phase home supply the car draws 7.4 kW, delivered in full by the 32A single-phase cable. The 11 kW rating is only reachable on a three-phase supply, where the 3-Phase 32A cable gives the fastest AC charging in the Leapmotor range.

Sizing guide
  • Type 2 to Type 2 Charging Cable:

A charging cable that connects electric vehicles (EVs) with a Type 2 connector to charging points is also equipped with a Type 2 socket. It supports faster charging speeds and is commonly used across Europe for EVs with this standard connection.

  • Type 2 to 3 Pin Charging Cable:

This cable allows electric vehicles with a Type 2 socket to charge from a standard UK 3-pin domestic outlet. It provides a slower charge but is useful for home or emergency charging when dedicated charging stations aren't available.

  • Type 2 Extension Cable:

A cable used to extend the reach of a Type 2 charging cable. It's helpful when the existing cable is too short to connect an electric vehicle to the charging point, providing more flexibility in parking.

  • Type 2 Tethered Cable:

A fixed charging cable attached to a charging point, designed for electric vehicles with a Type 2 socket. The tethered design eliminates the need to carry a separate cable, offering convenience for regular charging at home or work.

  • Type 1 to Type 2 Charging Cable:

A charging cable that connects electric vehicles with a Type 1 socket to charging points equipped with a Type 2 outlet. This allows EVs with the older Type 1 standard to use more modern charging infrastructure.

  • Type 1 to 3 Pin Charging Cable:

This cable enables electric vehicles with a Type 1 connector to charge from a standard UK 3-pin household outlet. It's suitable for slower charging at home when dedicated EV charging points aren't accessible.

Sizing guide
  • 5m - Charging Cable Length

A 5M charging cable is the shortest length that we offer. It is a great option if you can park close to the charge point and do not need much length to reach your car.

  • 10m - Charging Cable Length

A 10M charging cable is the most popular length. It allows you to have enough flexibility whilst still being easy enough to move. This is a great option if you cannot park close to the electricity supply.

  • 15m - Charging Cable Length

A 15M charging cable is a great choice if you need some extra flexibility, i.e. get past another car or reach the other end of a driveway. The length of the cable does not affect the charging speed.

  • 20m - Charging Cable Length

A 20M charging cable is the longest cable that we currently offer. 20M reaches the vast majority of locations where you would want to charge your car. Always use one continuous cable. Never join two charging cables together and never charge through an extension lead, because the join is where heat builds up.

How to choose your charge speed
  • 6amp - 12amp Adjustable

The choice if you will charge from a standard UK 3 pin socket. It runs at the most the socket can safely supply, and the control box lets you turn the current down for a slower, gentler charge overnight or on an older circuit.

  • 16amp

A 16amp cable will be able to charge at 3.7kW. This is the cheapest product if your car's max charge speed is 3.7kW. If you have two electric cars or are looking to purchase another it might be worth considering a faster charging cable as this could limit charge speeds moving forward.

  • 32amp

A 32amp charging cable will be able to charge at 7.4kW, which is the most a single phase UK home supply can deliver. A 32amp cable also charges at every lower speed (for example 16amp, 3.7kW), so it is the right choice if your home charge point is 7.4kW or you mostly charge at home.

  • 32amp (3 Phase)

A 32amp 3-phase charging cable will be able to charge at all speeds up to 22kW, so the cable never limits your charge speed at home or in public. It is also capable of charging at all lower charge speeds.
