The EV Cable Bag solves the problem every new EV driver meets in the first wet month. You unplug in the rain, the lead goes back in the boot soaking, and a fortnight later the boot carpet is grey and the cable smells of road grit. Give the lead a home and that stops happening.

This is a hardback bag rather than a loose sack, so it keeps its shape when the cable is coiled inside and it does not collapse into a heap every time you lift it out. It is fully waterproof, so a lead that went in dripping stays sealed away from everything else you carry. It is also dust and corrosion resistant, which matters more than people expect, because the damage a charging cable actually suffers is grit working into the pins of the connector rather than anything dramatic.

It carries up to a 10m charging cable, which is the size most people own. If you have one of our 5m leads it will sit inside with plenty of slack. A 10m lead fills it properly. Carry handles are fitted, so moving it from boot to garage is a one handed job rather than a wrestle with a wet loop of cable.

A word on where the bag lives. Most drivers keep it flat in the boot well or under the floor panel, which stops the coil shifting about on roundabouts and keeps the weight low. If you charge at home overnight and only carry a cable for trips, the garage shelf works just as well and the bag keeps dust off between journeys.

Where does it sit in our range? This is the standard bag, the one to buy alongside a first cable. Our larger storage bag takes up to a 15m lead if yours is longer, and the hard carry case adds a rigid shell if your cable gets stood on or has heavy items loaded on top of it in the boot.

What fits inside the EV Cable Bag?

It carries up to a 10m charging cable. That covers our 5m and 10m Type 2 leads comfortably. A 5m cable leaves room to spare, while a 10m lead fills the bag properly. If your cable is longer than 10 metres, choose our large storage bag instead, which takes up to 15m.

Will a 10m 32A cable fit in this bag?

Yes. A 10m 32A lead is the largest cable this bag is designed around, so it goes in, but coil it loosely in wide loops first rather than winding it tight. Tight winding stresses the cable where it meets each connector and makes it harder to get the zip closed.

Is the EV Cable Bag waterproof?

Yes. The listing states fully waterproof, so a lead that comes off a wet charge point can go straight in without soaking whatever else is in your boot. It is also dust and corrosion resistant, which keeps grit away from the connector pins where it does the real long term damage.

Does it stop my boot getting dirty?

That is the main reason people buy one. A coiled cable sheds water, road salt and grit straight onto the boot carpet every time it is thrown in loose. Sealed inside the bag, none of that reaches the car, and you are not lifting shopping out over a wet loop of cable.

How is this different from your other cable bags?

This is the standard bag for a 5m or 10m lead. The large storage bag takes a longer cable, up to 15m. The hard carry case is the same 10m capacity but adds a rigid shell for a cable that gets crushed under luggage. Pick on cable length first, then on how much protection you want.

Do I need a bag if my cable already came with one?

Not necessarily, though many drivers end up with two. One lives permanently in the boot for public charging and the other stays in the garage with the home lead, so neither cable is ever the one you left behind. A spare also helps if the original has split at a seam.

  • Type 2 to Type 2 Charging Cable:

    A charging cable that connects electric vehicles (EVs) with a Type 2 connector to charging points is also equipped with a Type 2 socket. It supports faster charging speeds and is commonly used across Europe for EVs with this standard connection.

  • Type 2 to 3 Pin Charging Cable:

    This cable allows electric vehicles with a Type 2 socket to charge from a standard UK 3-pin domestic outlet. It provides a slower charge but is useful for home or emergency charging when dedicated charging stations aren't available.

  • Type 2 Extension Cable:

    A cable used to extend the reach of a Type 2 charging cable. It's helpful when the existing cable is too short to connect an electric vehicle to the charging point, providing more flexibility in parking.

  • Type 2 Tethered Cable:

  • 5m - Charging Cable Length

    A 5M charging cable is the shortest length that we offer. It is a great option if you can park close to the charge point and do not need much length to reach your car.

  • 10m - Charging Cable Length

    A 10M charging cable is the most popular length. It allows you to have enough flexibility whilst still being easy enough to move. This is a great option if you cannot park close to the electricity supply.

  • 15m - Charging Cable Length

    A 15M charging cable is a great choice if you need some extra flexibility, i.e. get past another car or reach the other end of a driveway. The length of the cable does not affect the charging speed.

  • 20m - Charging Cable Length

    A 20M charging cable is the longest cable that we currently offer. 20M reaches the vast majority of locations where you would want to charge your car. Always use one continuous cable. Never join two charging cables together and never charge through an extension lead, because the join is where heat builds up.

How to choose your charge speed
  • 6amp - 12amp Adjustable

    The choice if you will charge from a standard UK 3 pin socket. It runs at the most the socket can safely supply, and the control box lets you turn the current down for a slower, gentler charge overnight or on an older circuit.

  • 16amp

    A 16amp cable will be able to charge at 3.7kW. This is the cheapest product if your car's max charge speed is 3.7kW. If you have two electric cars or are looking to purchase another it might be worth considering a faster charging cable as this could limit charge speeds moving forward.

  • 32amp

    A 32amp charging cable will be able to charge at 7.4kW, which is the most a single phase UK home supply can deliver. A 32amp cable also charges at every lower speed (for example 16amp, 3.7kW), so it is the right choice if your home charge point is 7.4kW or you mostly charge at home.

  • 32amp (3 Phase)

    A 32amp 3-phase charging cable will be able to charge at all speeds up to 22kW, so the cable never limits your charge speed at home or in public. It is also capable of charging at all lower charge speeds.
