LEVC Taxi Charging Cables
This collection covers the LEVC TX electric taxi, and it charges through a Type 2 socket, so a Type 2 to Type 2 cable is what you need. Buy the 32A single phase version. The TX has a 22 kW onboard charger, but a UK home runs on a single phase, which caps any cable at 7.4 kW, and the 32A lead carries every watt of it. A 16A cable fits the same socket, stops at 3.7 kW, and roughly doubles the time the cab spends plugged in.
Both taxi generations take the same cable. The 2018 to 2022 TX carries 31 kWh usable and fills in about 4 hours 45 minutes on a 32A lead, or 9 hours 30 minutes on a 16A one. The 2023 car onwards holds 34.6 kWh and takes about 5 hours 15 minutes. The LEVC VN5 van shares the platform and the same Type 2 socket, so the 32A cable is the correct buy there too.
Read MoreThe 22 kW figure is only reachable where a genuine three phase supply exists, using the 32A three phase cable. At a depot or garage wired that way it takes a full charge from about 4 hours 45 minutes down to roughly an hour and a half, which matters when you are turning the cab round between shifts. On a house supply it charges no faster than the standard 32A lead, so there is no reason to pay for it without the power to use it.
Worth being plain about what this taxi is. The 1.5 litre petrol engine works only as a generator and never drives the wheels, so a flat battery never ends a shift. The cheap miles are still the charged ones, which is why plugging in overnight is what keeps the engine off during the day. Charging happens through the Type 2 socket, and the cab also carries a CCS socket rated at 50 kW, with CHAdeMO offered alongside it on some early cars.
5m reaches when the cab noses straight into a wallbox. 10m is the safer buy if you park on the street, reverse onto a rank, or share a post at a garage, because a working cab rarely stops in the same spot twice. Our Type 2 to Type 2 cables are IP55 rated and CE certified, rated from -30C to +50C, and the Type 2 to 3 Pin lead is IP67 and rated from -30C to +60C. Both carry a 2 year manufacturer's warranty and free next working day UK delivery.

Which cable does the LEVC TX need?
The TX charges through a Type 2 socket, so a Type 2 to Type 2 lead is the one to order, and the 32A single phase version is the buy for a home or a rank. On the single phase supply in a UK home it delivers 7.4 kW, the quickest AC charge the cab will see there. A 16A lead fits the same socket but limits you to 3.7 kW.
How long does a full charge take?
From flat, the 2018 to 2022 TX takes about 4 hours 45 minutes on a 32A cable, or roughly 9 hours 30 minutes on a 16A one. The 2023 car onwards holds 34.6 kWh and runs to about 5 hours 15 minutes on 32A. A three pin lead needs around 15 hours 15 minutes, which makes it a standby option rather than something you use between shifts.
Is the three phase cable worth it for a cab?
Only where you plug into genuine three phase power. The TX has a 22 kW onboard charger, so at a depot wired that way the 32A three phase cable refills the 31 kWh pack in around an hour and a half rather than four and three quarter hours. On a house supply it draws 7.4 kW, exactly the same as the standard 32A lead, so there is no reason to pay more without the power to use it.
Does the 2023 TX charge any differently?
The pack grew from 31 kWh usable to 34.6 kWh, but the charging hardware did not change. It is Type 2 for AC, 7.4 kW on a single phase supply and 22 kW on three phase, with a CCS socket rated at 50 kW alongside it. A full 32A charge runs to about 5 hours 15 minutes instead of 4 hours 45, and both generations take the same cable.
Will this cable fit an LEVC VN5 van?
Yes. The VN5 shares the TX platform and the same Type 2 socket, with either the 31 kWh pack or the later 34.6 kWh one, so the 32A Type 2 to Type 2 cable is the correct buy. Higher trims carry the 22 kW charger, which means a three phase lead only earns its keep at a depot wired for three phases.
Should I buy 5m or 10m?
5m reaches when the cab noses straight into a wallbox on a driveway. Take 10m if you park on the street, reverse onto a rank, or share a charge post at a garage. Most UK AC posts are untethered, so the driver brings the lead, and a working cab rarely stops in the same spot twice. The extra five metres removes a daily irritation.
What warranty and delivery apply?
Every cable carries a 2 year manufacturer's warranty and free next working day UK delivery. Our Type 2 to Type 2 cables are IP55 rated and CE certified, rated from -30C to +50C, and the Type 2 to 3 Pin lead is IP67 and rated from -30C to +60C. Both fit the same Type 2 socket on the cab, so the choice is about current rating and length.
