Type 2 to Type 2, 32A three phase, 22 kW (5m / 10m)

The Skoda Elroq accepts up to 11 kW on AC. Nothing in the range can outrun a 22 kW lead, and a three-phase charge point is where the extra capacity turns into hours saved.

Home charging only? One phase is all a British house has, which means 7.4 kW on a wallbox. The 32A single-phase cable (5m / 10m / 15m / 20m) covers that and saves you the difference.

A Skoda Elroq charging cable is a Type 2 to Type 2 lead, and one specification covers the whole range: the Elroq 50, 60, 85 and vRS all carry the same 11 kW onboard AC charger, so every version takes 7.4 kW from a UK home wallbox. Skoda UK quotes the domestic figure for its compact electric SUV itself, 7.2 kW at 32 amps, and confirms 11 kW for the vRS on three phase. Battery size changes how many hours a charge takes; it never changes which cable the car wants, and the achievable charging power at home is 7.4 kW on every one of them. On sale in the UK since January 2025 in SE L, Edition, SportLine and vRS trim, with the Elroq 50 sold from launch until early 2026, the Elroq is the rare electric car where the buyer has nothing to look up before choosing an amperage. That leaves length as the one real decision on this page.

Home charging: which Skoda Elroq charging cable to buy

The cable that reaches the home ceiling: 32A single phase. Sold under the label 32amp (7.2kW), it moves the full 7.4 kW a single phase wallbox can push into an Elroq, and it is the same lead whether you drive the 52 kWh Elroq 50 or the 79 kWh vRS. Ohme, Zappi, Pod Point and the other socketed home chargers fitted in the UK all take the same Type 2 connector, so the cable needs no installation and outlives the wallbox. Scheduling, load balancing and off peak tariff timers are the charger's job; the cable is compatible with all of them and simply carries the power. The one that works but gains nothing on a driveway: 32A three phase. At home the Elroq cannot tell it apart from the single phase cable, because the house only feeds one of its three live cores. Where a real three phase supply exists, usually at work, the car takes its full 11 kW and an Elroq 85 comes down from 12 hours to 8. Buy it for that site, not for the number on the label. The one that leaves range behind: 16A. Labelled 16amp (3.6kW), it caps the Elroq at 3.7 kW, so a seven hour window of cheap rate electricity returns about 119 miles to an Elroq 85 instead of about 245, and a full charge stretches past 24 hours. Cheap in the basket, expensive on the tariff. Our own range says the same thing in a different way: the 15 metre and 20 metre Elroq cables are made in the 32A single phase rating only, because that is the one an Elroq owner should be buying.

Now the decision that actually varies from one Elroq owner to the next. The charge flap is on the right hand rear quarter and the car is 4.49 metres long. Back the Elroq onto the drive with the wallbox mounted on the driver's side and a 5 metre cable does it. Park nose first, or charge from a socket on the far wall of the house, and the lead has to run past a rear door, two wheels and the bonnet before it reaches the box, which is a 10 metre job. The 15 metre and 20 metre cables suit a shared bay, a wallbox on a garage set back from the drive, or a communal car park post two spaces away. Measure from the flap to the socket along the route the cable will lie, with the second car parked where it normally sits. Length does not change the charging power on any of these cables, so the choice is about reach and convenience alone.

There should already be a cable in the boot. Skoda UK states that a 6 metre Mode 3 Type 2 cable is supplied as standard with its electric cars, and Elroq owners confirm it arrives in the underfloor boot tray. Two things follow. First, a 5 metre cable from us is shorter than the one you have, so the upgrade case is 10 metres or more, or a second lead to leave at work. Skoda lists a fitted charging cable case among its Elroq charging accessories, and whether you buy one or not that tray is where both leads live. Second, nothing in it plugs into a wall socket. The Type 2 to 3-Pin Charging Cable fills that gap for the Elroq as it does for any electric vehicle with a Type 2 inlet: 2.3 kW from a standard 230 volt 13 amp socket, about 11 miles of range an hour, a Type B RCD built into its control box and a dial that drops the current for an older ring main. On a 79 kWh battery it is a two night proposition from empty, which is why it belongs in the boot for holiday cottages and relatives' driveways rather than on the wall at home.

Warranty first, because it is the figure most cables get wrong: 2 years, manufacturer's, on both leads sold here. On build standards, the Type 2 to Type 2 meets IEC 62196-2 with CE certification, IP55 sealing that protects it from a winter on the driveway in any weather, and a working range of -30C to +50C, while the Type 2 to 3-Pin meets IEC 62752, is CE marked, IP67 sealed and rated from -30C to +60C.

Cars registered in 2025 carry the earlier packs: 77 kWh usable and up to 360 miles on the Elroq 85, 59 kWh and up to 265 miles on the Elroq 60, which takes 11 hours 45 minutes and 9 hours respectively on the 32A cable. The 2026 Elroq 60 moved to an LFP battery of 58 kWh and the Elroq 50 left the UK price list in the same update. The AC charger did not change on any of them. A cold battery and a long stretch of dual carriageway both eat into the hourly figure.

Skoda Elroq Charging Cable FAQs

Do the Elroq 60 and Elroq 85 need different charging cables?

No. The Skoda Elroq 60, Elroq 85 and Elroq vRS all have the same 11 kW onboard charger and the same Type 2 inlet, so one 32A single phase Type 2 to Type 2 cable is right for all of them. The bigger battery takes longer, 12 hours against 8 hours 45 minutes from empty at home, but it fills at exactly the same rate, because the vehicle sets the charging power, not the cable.

Does a Skoda Elroq come with a charging cable?

Yes, a Type 2 to Type 2 cable. Skoda UK says a 6 metre Mode 3 cable is supplied as standard, and Elroq owners report finding it in the boot floor storage. No 3-pin lead is included, so an Elroq owner who wants to charge from a household socket needs a Type 2 to 3-Pin cable bought separately.

Is the 22kW three phase cable pointless on a Skoda Elroq?

At home, yes; at a three phase workplace, no. A Skoda Elroq accepts 11 kW on AC at most, and a house supply only lets any cable deliver 7.4 kW, so on a driveway the three phase lead behaves like the cheaper 32A single phase one. Plugged into a genuine three phase post it lifts an Elroq 85 from 7.4 kW to 11 kW and saves four hours on a full charge.

How far will one night on a home charger take a Skoda Elroq?

Between about 230 and 250 miles of WLTP range in a seven hour off peak window on a 7.4 kW wallbox with the 32A cable, depending on which Skoda Elroq battery is fitted. That is two thirds of an Elroq 85 and nearly all of an Elroq 60, so an Elroq connected each evening with half its charge left is fully charged by morning without touching the day rate.

What length of charging cable suits a Skoda Elroq?

10 metres is the convenient length for most Skoda Elroq owners. The flap is on the right rear of a 4.49 metre car, so 5 metres only works when the car reverses in and the wallbox is on the same side. Nose in parking, a wallbox on the opposite side of the house or a bay shared with another car all push the run past 5 metres, and 15 or 20 metres cover a garage set back from the drive or a communal post.

Can I use a Skoda Elroq charging cable at public charging stations?

Yes. Every untethered Type 2 AC post accepts it, which covers most on street, supermarket and hotel public charging points in the UK. The Skoda Elroq draws up to 11 kW from a three phase post with the 32A three phase cable and 7.4 kW with the single phase one. Those posts supply alternating current, which the Elroq's own onboard charger converts. DC charging at rapid stations is different: the fast charging lead is tethered to the unit, feeds direct current straight to the battery through the Elroq's CCS port, and needs nothing from the boot.

  • Type 2 to Type 2 Charging Cable:

    A charging cable that connects electric vehicles (EVs) with a Type 2 connector to charging points is also equipped with a Type 2 socket. It supports faster charging speeds and is commonly used across Europe for EVs with this standard connection.

  • Type 2 to 3 Pin Charging Cable:

    This cable allows electric vehicles with a Type 2 socket to charge from a standard UK 3-pin domestic outlet. It provides a slower charge but is useful for home or emergency charging when dedicated charging stations aren't available.

  • 5m - Charging Cable Length

    A 5M charging cable is the shortest length that we offer. It is a great option if you can park close to the charge point and do not need much length to reach your car.

  • 10m - Charging Cable Length

    A 10M charging cable is the most popular length. It allows you to have enough flexibility whilst still being easy enough to move. This is a great option if you cannot park close to the electricity supply.

  • 15m - Charging Cable Length

    A 15M charging cable is a great choice if you need some extra flexibility, i.e. get past another car or reach the other end of a driveway. The length of the cable does not affect the charging speed.

  • 20m - Charging Cable Length

    A 20M charging cable is the longest cable that we currently offer. 20M reaches the vast majority of locations where you would want to charge your car. Always use one continuous cable. Never join two charging cables together and never charge through an extension lead, because the join is where heat builds up.

How to choose your charge speed
  • 6amp - 12amp Adjustable

    The choice if you will charge from a standard UK 3 pin socket. It runs at the most the socket can safely supply, and the control box lets you turn the current down for a slower, gentler charge overnight or on an older circuit.

  • 16amp

    A 16amp cable will be able to charge at 3.7kW. This is the cheapest product if your car's max charge speed is 3.7kW. If you have two electric cars or are looking to purchase another it might be worth considering a faster charging cable as this could limit charge speeds moving forward.

  • 32amp

    A 32amp charging cable will be able to charge at 7.4kW, which is the most a single phase UK home supply can deliver. A 32amp cable also charges at every lower speed (for example 16amp, 3.7kW), so it is the right choice if your home charge point is 7.4kW or you mostly charge at home.

  • 32amp (3 Phase)

    A 32amp 3-phase charging cable will be able to charge at all speeds up to 22kW, so the cable never limits your charge speed at home or in public. It is also capable of charging at all lower charge speeds.
