Product Description

Buy the 32A Type 2 to Type 2 cable. The Citigo-e iV pulls the full 7.2 kW its onboard charger allows, so anything smaller simply wastes the car's capability.

Skoda sold the electric Citigo here only briefly, from 2020 to 2021, in SE and SE L trim. Under the floor sits a 36.8 kWh gross pack with 32.3 kWh of that usable. Plugged into a home wall box through a 32A cable, a flat battery is full again in roughly five hours. Skoda quotes about four hours fifteen minutes to reach 80 per cent.

Swap to a 16A cable and the ceiling drops to 3.7 kW, which stretches the same charge out to nearly ten hours. That is the whole argument for the dearer cable on this car: a small hatchback battery, but one that still needs a full night at half speed.

Worth knowing before you order: the Citigo-e iV is mechanically the same car as the SEAT Mii electric and the Volkswagen e-up!. Same 32.3 kWh usable pack, same 7.2 kW charger, same Type 2 inlet. If you own any of the three, this cable is the one.

The three do differ in one respect. CCS rapid charging came as standard on the Mii electric and the e-up!, but it was not fitted to every Citigo. Look below the Type 2 socket for a second, wider opening. If it is not there, your car has no rapid charging. Either way it makes no difference to which AC cable you need.

The 22 kW three phase cable is not worth the money here. British homes are supplied with a single phase, capping any domestic charge point at 7.4 kW, and the Citigo-e iV stops at 7.2 kW regardless. Whichever is lowest of the car, the supply and the cable sets your actual speed.

A Type 2 to 3 Pin lead trickles in at 2.3 kW. It is handy when you are staying somewhere without a wall box, but it is a long wait rather than a daily habit.

If your Citigo is a 1.0 MPI petrol from 2011 to 2019, it has no charging port and no cable will fit.

Which cable does a Skoda Citigo-e iV need?

A 32A Type 2 to Type 2 cable. The Citigo-e iV accepts up to 7.2 kW on AC, and a 32A lead carries that comfortably, refilling the 32.3 kWh usable pack in about five hours. Skoda also quotes roughly four hours fifteen minutes to 80 per cent on a home charge point.

Is a 32A cable worth it on a Citigo-e iV?

On this car, clearly yes. A 16A cable is limited to 3.7 kW, so a flat 32.3 kWh battery needs close to ten hours. The 32A cable lets the car take its full 7.2 kW and cuts that to around five hours. The price difference is repaid the first weekend you need the car twice in a day.

How long does a Citigo-e iV take to charge?

About five hours from empty on a 7.4 kW home charge point using a 32A cable, since the car draws 7.2 kW. A 16A cable pushes that to roughly nine hours forty five minutes. A three pin lead manages only 2.3 kW, so budget the best part of sixteen hours for a full charge.

Does every Citigo-e iV have CCS rapid charging?

No. CCS was standard on the SEAT Mii electric and the Volkswagen e-up!, but Skoda did not fit it to every Citigo-e iV. Check underneath the Type 2 socket for a second, wider opening. Whether or not your car has it, the AC cable you need is unchanged at 32A Type 2 to Type 2.

Is the Citigo-e the same car as the VW e-up!?

Mechanically, yes. The Citigo-e iV, SEAT Mii electric and Volkswagen e-up! share a 32.3 kWh usable battery and a 7.2 kW onboard charger, and all three take a Type 2 inlet. One 32A Type 2 to Type 2 cable covers any of them, so buy on length rather than badge.

Do I need a 5m or 10m cable for a Citigo-e?

The Citigo is a short car, so 5m usually reaches a wall box mounted near the parking bay. Choose 10m if the charge point is on the far side of a garage, you park behind another vehicle, or you regularly use on street posts where you cannot pick your spot.

Compatibility

The Citigo-e iV is one of three identical cars: the same vehicle as the SEAT Mii electric and the Volkswagen e-up!, with the same 36.8 kWh pack and the same 7.2 kW onboard charger. The cable is the same for all three. One thing that does differ, though it will not affect which cable you buy: CCS rapid charging was standard on the Mii and the e-up! but only fitted to some Citigos, so yours may have no rapid charging at all. Check for a wider socket below the Type 2 one. For AC charging a 32A Type 2 cable is right, since the car will draw the full 7.2 kW and a 16A cable would halve that.

  • 5m - Charging Cable Length

    A 5M charging cable is the shortest length that we offer. It is a great option if you can park close to the charge point and do not need much length to reach your car.

  • 10m - Charging Cable Length

    A 10M charging cable is the most popular length. It allows you to have enough flexibility whilst still being easy enough to move. This is a great option if you cannot park close to the electricity supply.

  • 15m - Charging Cable Length

    A 15M charging cable is a great choice if you need some extra flexibility, i.e. get past another car or reach the other end of a driveway. The length of the cable does not affect the charging speed.

  • 20m - Charging Cable Length

    A 20M charging cable is the longest cable that we currently offer. 20M reaches the vast majority of locations where you would want to charge your car. Always use one continuous cable. Never join two charging cables together and never charge through an extension lead, because the join is where heat builds up.

How to choose your charge speed
  • 6amp - 12amp Adjustable

    The choice if you will charge from a standard UK 3 pin socket. It runs at the most the socket can safely supply, and the control box lets you turn the current down for a slower, gentler charge overnight or on an older circuit.

  • 16amp

    A 16amp cable will be able to charge at 3.7kW. This is the cheapest product if your car's max charge speed is 3.7kW. If you have two electric cars or are looking to purchase another it might be worth considering a faster charging cable as this could limit charge speeds moving forward.

  • 32amp

    A 32amp charging cable will be able to charge at 7.4kW, which is the most a single phase UK home supply can deliver. A 32amp cable also charges at every lower speed (for example 16amp, 3.7kW), so it is the right choice if your home charge point is 7.4kW or you mostly charge at home.

  • 32amp (3 Phase)

    A 32amp 3-phase charging cable will be able to charge at all speeds up to 22kW, so the cable never limits your charge speed at home or in public. It is also capable of charging at all lower charge speeds.
