Product Description

If you run an electric Vito, you almost certainly run an eVito, and it takes a Type 2 to Type 2 cable at 32A. Order the 5m or the 10m. That single cable covers the whole eVito range: the 41 kWh panel van of 2019 to 2020, the 60 kWh panel van from 2020, and the 90 kWh eVito Tourer. All three use a Type 2 inlet, so there is no connector decision to make.

The van in this page's title is a different story. The Vito E-CELL was built between 2010 and 2013, around 2,000 of them, and leased to fleets in Germany and Spain rather than sold to customers. We have found no evidence of right hand drive UK sales, and its 36 kWh pack predates the Type 2 standard, so its connector is not something we can confirm. We will not sell you a cable on a guess. If you genuinely have an E-CELL, contact us before buying anything.

For the eVito, plan around your depot supply. The 60 kWh panel van and the 90 kWh Tourer both accept 11 kW, which is a three phase figure. On the single phase supply that almost every yard and every house has, you get 7.4 kW, and the 32A single phase cable delivers that in full. From empty, that is about nine hours fifteen minutes for the 60 kWh van and about thirteen hours forty five for the Tourer. On a three phase post those drop to six hours fifteen and nine hours fifteen.

The 41 kWh van is the one gap in our data. Mercedes UK has not confirmed its AC charge rate, so we do not quote a charging time for it. The 32A cable is still the right purchase, because it will supply whatever the van asks for up to the 7.4 kW ceiling, but we would rather leave a blank than invent a number for your shift planning.

Choose 10m unless the post sits right beside a dedicated bay, since vans rarely come back to the same square of tarmac twice. Our Type 2 cables are IP55 rated and the 3 pin units IP67, all supplied with a 2 year manufacturer's warranty and free next working day UK delivery.

Which cable does the Mercedes eVito need?

A Type 2 to Type 2 at 32A, in 5m or 10m. Every eVito uses a Type 2 inlet, from the 41 kWh panel van through to the 90 kWh Tourer. On a single phase depot supply that cable gives 7.4 kW, filling the 60 kWh van in about nine hours fifteen minutes from empty.

Can I buy a cable for a Vito E-CELL?

Not without speaking to us first. The E-CELL was leased to fleets in Germany and Spain between 2010 and 2013, never sold to UK customers, and its 36 kWh system predates the Type 2 standard. We cannot confirm the connector, so we will not claim a cable fits. Contact us before ordering.

Will an eVito fully charge overnight at a depot?

The 60 kWh panel van will, at about nine hours fifteen minutes on a 32A single phase cable. The 90 kWh Tourer needs roughly thirteen hours forty five, which overruns a normal shutdown. On a three phase site those become six hours fifteen and nine hours fifteen respectively.

Is a three phase cable worth it for a fleet?

If your yard has a three phase supply, yes. The 60 kWh and 90 kWh eVito both accept 11 kW, which knocks three hours off the panel van and four and a half off the Tourer. On a single phase supply it delivers the same 7.4 kW as the cheaper cable, so check the board first.

What length suits a van yard?

10m in most cases. Drivers park where there is space rather than where the post is, and a 5m cable turns that into a daily argument. 10m reaches across an adjacent bay and tolerates a van left at an angle, which matters more than the small saving on the shorter cable.

Should each van carry its own spare cable?

A 3 pin cable behind the seats is cheap insurance for a van that works away from the yard. At 2.3 kW it will not refill 60 kWh, but an overnight stop at a customer site or a hotel adds enough to complete the round. Keep the 32A cable on the depot post.

Compatibility

The Vito E-CELL was effectively never a UK retail model. Around 2,000 were built between 2010 and 2013 and leased to fleets in Germany and Spain. We have found no evidence of right-hand-drive UK customer sales, and its charging connector predates the Type 2 standard, so we will not claim a cable fits it.

If you have an electric Vito, it is far more likely to be an eVito, which is a different and much later van. Those are listed below and all use Type 2.

  • Type 2 to Type 2 Charging Cable:

    A charging cable that connects electric vehicles (EVs) with a Type 2 connector to charging points is also equipped with a Type 2 socket. It supports faster charging speeds and is commonly used across Europe for EVs with this standard connection.

  • Type 2 to 3 Pin Charging Cable:

    This cable allows electric vehicles with a Type 2 socket to charge from a standard UK 3-pin domestic outlet. It provides a slower charge but is useful for home or emergency charging when dedicated charging stations aren't available.

  • Type 2 Extension Cable:

  • 5m - Charging Cable Length

    A 5M charging cable is the shortest length that we offer. It is a great option if you can park close to the charge point and do not need much length to reach your car.

  • 10m - Charging Cable Length

    A 10M charging cable is the most popular length. It allows you to have enough flexibility whilst still being easy enough to move. This is a great option if you cannot park close to the electricity supply.

  • 15m - Charging Cable Length

    A 15M charging cable is a great choice if you need some extra flexibility, i.e. get past another car or reach the other end of a driveway. The length of the cable does not affect the charging speed.

  • 20m - Charging Cable Length

    A 20M charging cable is the longest cable that we currently offer. 20M reaches the vast majority of locations where you would want to charge your car. Always use one continuous cable. Never join two charging cables together and never charge through an extension lead, because the join is where heat builds up.

How to choose your charge speed
  • 6amp - 12amp Adjustable

    The choice if you will charge from a standard UK 3 pin socket. It runs at the most the socket can safely supply, and the control box lets you turn the current down for a slower, gentler charge overnight or on an older circuit.

  • 16amp

    A 16amp cable will be able to charge at 3.7kW. This is the cheapest product if your car's max charge speed is 3.7kW. If you have two electric cars or are looking to purchase another it might be worth considering a faster charging cable as this could limit charge speeds moving forward.

  • 32amp

    A 32amp charging cable will be able to charge at 7.4kW, which is the most a single phase UK home supply can deliver. A 32amp cable also charges at every lower speed (for example 16amp, 3.7kW), so it is the right choice if your home charge point is 7.4kW or you mostly charge at home.

  • 32amp (3 Phase)

    A 32amp 3-phase charging cable will be able to charge at all speeds up to 22kW, so the cable never limits your charge speed at home or in public. It is also capable of charging at all lower charge speeds.
