Product Description

For home charging an EQV 300, buy the 32A Type 2 to Type 2 cable. It carries 7.4 kW, which is everything a British domestic charge point can give, and this is a van sized battery that needs all of it.

Mercedes sold the EQV 300 here between 2020 and 2024, in Long and Extra-Long wheelbase, and it was the only EQV offered in the UK. Under the floor is a 100 kWh gross pack with 90 kWh usable. That is a great deal of energy to move through a cable, so the choice matters more here than on a small hatchback.

On a 7.4 kW home supply with the 32A cable, expect around thirteen and three quarter hours from empty. Step down to a 16A cable at 3.7 kW and the same charge runs to roughly twenty seven and a half hours, which is more than a full day. The 16A cable is not a sensible saving on this vehicle.

The EQV 300 will accept 11 kW on AC, but that is a three phase number and it is worth being clear about what it means. Homes in Britain are supplied with a single phase, so no domestic wall box can exceed 7.4 kW whichever cable you own. The 11 kW figure appears only at a three phase charge point, and reaching it needs the three phase cable as well as the three phase supply. Buy that version if your depot, workplace or yard has a three phase AC unit, since it brings a full charge down to about nine and a quarter hours. If you charge on a driveway, it will behave exactly like the 32A single phase cable and cost you more.

Whatever you use, the speed is decided by the lowest of three limits: the car, the supply and the cable.

A Type 2 to 3 Pin lead is not realistic as a main method on a 90 kWh battery, since 2.3 kW would take the best part of two days. Keep one for occasional top ups away from home.

The petrol and diesel Vito and V-Class have no charging port in any year, and the eVito is the panel van version of this vehicle.

Which cable does a Mercedes EQV 300 need?

A 32A Type 2 to Type 2 cable for home use. The EQV 300 has 90 kWh usable and a Type 2 inlet, and 32A carries the full 7.4 kW a British house can supply, giving a complete charge in about 13h45m. The 16A cable halves that rate and is not worth considering on a pack this size.

Is the 22 kW three phase cable worth it?

Only if you have three phase access. The EQV 300 tops out at 11 kW on AC, and at a three phase charge point that cuts a full charge to roughly 9h15m instead of 13h45m. Plugged into an ordinary single phase home wall box, the same cable delivers 7.4 kW, exactly like the cheaper 32A version.

How long does an EQV 300 take to charge?

From empty at home on 7.4 kW, around 13h45m for the 90 kWh usable battery. On a 16A cable at 3.7 kW it climbs to about 27h30m. With a three phase supply and cable the car draws 11 kW and finishes in roughly 9h15m. A three pin lead would take nearly two days.

Why can I not get 11 kW at home?

Because British houses have a single phase electricity supply and 11 kW requires three phases. A home charge point is therefore capped at 7.4 kW no matter what the EQV 300 is capable of or which cable is fitted. Three phase supplies are normally found at commercial premises rather than domestic addresses.

Does the Mercedes V-Class plug in?

No. Petrol and diesel Vito and V-Class models have no charging port in any model year, so no cable will connect to them. The EQV 300 is the electric version of that vehicle for passenger use, and the eVito is the equivalent panel van. Both of those take a Type 2 cable.

Is 5m long enough for a Mercedes EQV?

Often not. The EQV is a long wheelbase vehicle and many owners park it nose out or across a yard rather than tight against a wall box. Ten metres removes the risk of falling short, particularly on the Extra-Long version. The cable length has no effect on the 7.4 kW charge rate.

  • Type 2 to 3 Pin Charging Cable:

  • 5m - Charging Cable Length

    A 5M charging cable is the shortest length that we offer. It is a great option if you can park close to the charge point and do not need much length to reach your car.

  • 10m - Charging Cable Length

    A 10M charging cable is the most popular length. It allows you to have enough flexibility whilst still being easy enough to move. This is a great option if you cannot park close to the electricity supply.

  • 15m - Charging Cable Length

    A 15M charging cable is a great choice if you need some extra flexibility, i.e. get past another car or reach the other end of a driveway. The length of the cable does not affect the charging speed.

  • 20m - Charging Cable Length

    A 20M charging cable is the longest cable that we currently offer. 20M reaches the vast majority of locations where you would want to charge your car. Always use one continuous cable. Never join two charging cables together and never charge through an extension lead, because the join is where heat builds up.

How to choose your charge speed
  • 6amp - 12amp Adjustable

    The choice if you will charge from a standard UK 3 pin socket. It runs at the most the socket can safely supply, and the control box lets you turn the current down for a slower, gentler charge overnight or on an older circuit.

  • 16amp

    A 16amp cable will be able to charge at 3.7kW. This is the cheapest product if your car's max charge speed is 3.7kW. If you have two electric cars or are looking to purchase another it might be worth considering a faster charging cable as this could limit charge speeds moving forward.

  • 32amp

    A 32amp charging cable will be able to charge at 7.4kW, which is the most a single phase UK home supply can deliver. A 32amp cable also charges at every lower speed (for example 16amp, 3.7kW), so it is the right choice if your home charge point is 7.4kW or you mostly charge at home.

  • 32amp (3 Phase)

    A 32amp 3-phase charging cable will be able to charge at all speeds up to 22kW, so the cable never limits your charge speed at home or in public. It is also capable of charging at all lower charge speeds.
