Product Description

Every Mazda CX-60 e-Skyactiv PHEV, on sale in the UK since 2022 and still in the 2026 line-up, charges through a Type 2 inlet at a maximum of 7.2 kW AC, and the lead that hands the car all of it is the 32A single phase Type 2 to Type 2 charging cable. Mazda's UK press material gives the 7.2 kW onboard charger, the 17.8 kWh battery behind it and a full charge in 2 hours 20 minutes. That 7.2 kW is the entire AC charging capacity of the vehicle, and no cable raises it. The 2 hours 20 minutes is what shapes this page. A CX-60 does not need a night to fill, it needs an afternoon, so the cable you buy is a thing you use in daylight rather than something you plug in on the way to bed. Only the version badged e-Skyactiv PHEV has an inlet at all: the 3.3 litre diesel and the petrol CX-60 are 48V mild hybrids with no socket for a cable to reach.

Mazda CX-60 charging cable: which one to pick

Full speed at home: the 32A single phase cable. Our menu lists it as 32amp (7.2kW). A 32A wallbox on a single phase house supply delivers up to 7.4 kW, this lead carries all of it, and the CX-60 draws its whole 7.2 kW through it, refilling a flat 17.8 kWh pack in about 2 hours 45 minutes by our own maths. Works, but not a minute faster: the 32A three phase cable. The 7.2 kW ceiling is set inside the vehicle, so a 22 kW lead gives a CX-60 the same 7.2 kW and the same 2 hours 45 minutes at a home wallbox, at a workplace with three phases in the wall, and at a 22 kW public post. Its two spare cores carry nothing on this car, ever. Costs you the whole afternoon: the 16A cable. Listed as 16amp (3.6kW), it pegs the CX-60 to 3.7 kW and stretches that same empty to full to roughly 5 hours 30 minutes, halving the miles put back per hour from 16 to 8. Plug in at four o'clock on the 32A lead and the battery is ready before you eat. On the 16A lead it is still filling at half past nine, and the second trip of the day happens on petrol.

Length is where CX-60 buyers most often guess, and two facts settle it. The charge flap sits on the left rear quarter of a car 4.745 metres long, which puts the socket at the opposite corner from a wallbox fitted near the front door on the driver's side. Owner photographs are the source for that position rather than Mazda's brochure, so glance at your own car before measuring anything. Reverse in with the wallbox on the left and 5 metres is ample. Park nose first, squeeze past a second car, or charge at the kerb outside a terraced house, and the lead has to run the length of a large SUV and then reach the wall, which is what the 10 metre lead is for. The 15 and 20 metre versions answer a charger fixed to a garage wall with the car parked at the top of the drive. Worth knowing before you settle the amperage: on this product the 15m and 20m lengths are made only in the 32A single phase version, so on a long run the fastest cable and the longest cable are the same purchase.

Do not plan around a lead already being in the boot. Mazda's UK specification announcement for the CX-60 PHEV lists no charging cable in the standard equipment, and UK press cars have turned up with a three pin lead rather than a Type 2 one, so what a used CX-60 arrives with is whatever the previous owner happened to leave behind. Our Type 2 to 3-Pin Charging Cable fills that gap at 2.3 kW from an ordinary 13 amp socket, which is about 5 miles of electric range an hour and a full 17.8 kWh in roughly 8 hours 45 minutes. On a battery this size it is a working overnight charger rather than a token one, which is why it earns its place in the car for a weekend at a cottage.

Mazda publishes 17.8 kWh as the CX-60 battery capacity without giving a usable figure, so every time above is worked from the total and runs slightly long against Mazda's own quote of 2 hours 20 minutes. The range column uses Mazda's 39 mile combined WLTP figure; Mazda also publishes 42 miles of city EV range, which lifts the miles per hour by about one on every row. A cold battery, the cabin heater and a stretch of motorway will each take miles off the per hour column.

Which Mazda CX-60 has a charging socket?

Only the Mazda CX-60 equipped with the e-Skyactiv PHEV powertrain, the plug-in hybrid sold in the UK from 2022, has a charging socket. The 3.3 litre e-Skyactiv D diesel and the petrol CX-60 run 48V mild hybrid systems topped up by the engine and by braking, and they carry no charge flap at all, so nothing on this page connects to them. Trim makes no difference on the plug-in: Exclusive-Line, Homura, Takumi and the Plus grades all carry the same 17.8 kWh battery and the same 7.2 kW onboard charger, and no model year since 2022 has altered either figure.

Which Mazda CX-60 charging cable gives the fastest charge at home?

The 32A single phase Type 2 to Type 2 cable. The Mazda CX-60's AC charging capacity is 7.2 kW, a 32A wallbox on a single phase supply offers up to 7.4 kW, and this lead passes the car everything it will take, filling the 17.8 kWh battery from empty in about 2 hours 45 minutes. The 16A cable fits the same socket but holds the car to 3.7 kW and roughly 5 hours 30 minutes. The same 32A lead is compatible with any untethered Type 2 post, so one cable covers the drive and public EV charging stations alike.

Does a 22kW three phase cable do anything for a Mazda CX-60?

No. A Mazda CX-60 will not take more than 7.2 kW on AC whatever is plugged into it, so the three phase cable delivers the same 7.2 kW and the same charge time as the cheaper 32A single phase lead. That holds on a driveway, in a workplace car park fed by three real phases, and at a public 22 kW post. Nothing about the CX-60 rewards paying for the extra cores.

Can a Mazda CX-60 be charged twice in the same day?

Yes, and that is the practical argument for the 32A cable on a Mazda CX-60. It is a plug-in hybrid rather than a full electric car, so the battery is small enough to fill twice between breakfast and bedtime. Empty to full takes about 2 hours 45 minutes at 7.2 kW, so a car home at five o'clock is full again by eight and can do an evening run on electricity. On the 16A cable the same refill takes about 5 hours 30 minutes, which pushes the second charge past bedtime and turns a two trip day into one electric trip and one on petrol.

Is 5 metres enough for a Mazda CX-60, or is 10 metres safer?

5 metres is enough if you reverse a Mazda CX-60 onto the drive with the wallbox on the left hand side, because the charge flap is on the left rear quarter and finishes near the unit. 10 metres is the right choice if you park nose in, if the wallbox is on the opposite side of a 4.745 metre car, or if a second vehicle sits between the CX-60 and the wall. The 15 and 20 metre leads are for a garage wall charger with the car parked well down the drive, and they come only in the 32A single phase build.

Will a household socket fill a Mazda CX-60 battery in a night?

Yes. A Type 2 to 3-Pin Charging Cable puts 2.3 kW into a Mazda CX-60 and takes about 8 hours 45 minutes to fill the 17.8 kWh battery from empty, which fits inside a normal night. That is the reason it is worth owning even alongside a wallbox, because Mazda's UK specification for the CX-60 PHEV never listed a cable of any sort as provided with the car, and a used one often arrives with nothing in the boot.

Compatibility

Only the CX-60 badged e-Skyactiv PHEV plugs in. The 3.3 litre diesel and the petrol versions are 48V mild hybrids with a battery about the size of a shoebox and no charging port at all, so no cable will do anything for them. The plug-in has a 7.2 kW onboard charger, which is healthy for a car of this type and means a 32A cable is worth having rather than a 16A one. Mazda does not offer three-phase 11 kW charging or DC rapid charging on the CX-60, so a standard single-phase 32A Type 2 cable is exactly the right product. The larger CX-80 uses the same battery, the same charger and the same connector.

  • 5m - Charging Cable Length

    A 5M charging cable is the shortest length that we offer. It is a great option if you can park close to the charge point and do not need much length to reach your car.

  • 10m - Charging Cable Length

    A 10M charging cable is the most popular length. It allows you to have enough flexibility whilst still being easy enough to move. This is a great option if you cannot park close to the electricity supply.

  • 15m - Charging Cable Length

    A 15M charging cable is a great choice if you need some extra flexibility, i.e. get past another car or reach the other end of a driveway. The length of the cable does not affect the charging speed.

  • 20m - Charging Cable Length

    A 20M charging cable is the longest cable that we currently offer. 20M reaches the vast majority of locations where you would want to charge your car. Always use one continuous cable. Never join two charging cables together and never charge through an extension lead, because the join is where heat builds up.

How to choose your charge speed
  • 6amp - 12amp Adjustable

    The choice if you will charge from a standard UK 3 pin socket. It runs at the most the socket can safely supply, and the control box lets you turn the current down for a slower, gentler charge overnight or on an older circuit.

  • 16amp

    A 16amp cable will be able to charge at 3.7kW. This is the cheapest product if your car's max charge speed is 3.7kW. If you have two electric cars or are looking to purchase another it might be worth considering a faster charging cable as this could limit charge speeds moving forward.

  • 32amp

    A 32amp charging cable will be able to charge at 7.4kW, which is the most a single phase UK home supply can deliver. A 32amp cable also charges at every lower speed (for example 16amp, 3.7kW), so it is the right choice if your home charge point is 7.4kW or you mostly charge at home.

  • 32amp (3 Phase)

    A 32amp 3-phase charging cable will be able to charge at all speeds up to 22kW, so the cable never limits your charge speed at home or in public. It is also capable of charging at all lower charge speeds.
