We all know that 2020 wasn’t the best year in the car industry for all apparent reasons, but it looks like 2021 will be much better. At least in terms of the sheer number of new car releases, the introduction of innovative tech, and further implementation of zero-emission technologies. By now, almost all leading car manufacturers are convinced that the future of personal transport is in electric vehicles, which means that more and more interesting EVs are coming our way in 2021. Today, we will tell you more about the eight most exciting premieres we are looking forward to this year. Audi e-Tron GT Officially released just a few days ago, Audi e-Tron GT is the most exciting member of Audi’s EV offensive, starting with the e-Tron Sportback. If you think that GT looks familiar, you are right; it is based on Porsche Taycan and uses very similar mechanics. The base version will deliver 510 hp, and the top-of-the-line model will have 590 hp. Audi claims that the e-Tron GT will be able to cover 249 miles on a single charge thanks to the big, 85-kWh battery pack. BMW i4 Although the BMW i3 and i8 were successful hybrid models, the announcement of the proper BMW’s electric sedan in the form of the upcoming BMW i4 really excited the car enthusiasts. Designed to go against the likes of Tesla Model 3 and other similar competitors, i4 should be a proper driver’s car in this segment. The concept vehicle gave us a glimpse of the styling, and so far, we know that it will have an 80-kWh battery pack, around 530 hp, and a somewhat optimistic, 372-mile range. We can expect in the second half of 2021. BMW iX The first BMW’s electric SUV will come in late 2021 in the form of BMW iX. This model represents a big step forward for the German brand, not just in the electric car market but also in the zero-emissions SUV segment, which is very controversial. However, the iX’s specifications reveal that this is a very capable machine with 500 hp from two electric motors, 373 miles of range, and 0 to 60 mph time of fewer than 5 seconds. Lucid Air One of the most eagerly awaited 2021 premieres is the Lucid Air, the first road-going electric car from the fiercest Tesla competitor. In development since early 2012, Lucid Air wows the electric car fans with an impressive spec sheet. Its top version will be equipped with a massive 113 kWh battery pack with a power output of up to 1000 hp and a top speed of over 200 mph! However, the best thing is the claimed range, and it is way over Tesla Model S’ at incredible 517 miles. Ioniq 5 Hyundai is already a well-respected name in the affordable EV market, and it has just launched its sub-brand called Hyundai Ioniq 5. Due to being released in 2021, the first model is Ioniq 5, a cool-looking compact crossover with significantly more power and range than current Hyundai products in this class.  The base version will have the 58-kWh battery pack, and the top model will have 77 kWh with the all-wheel-drive train. The advertised range is almost 300 miles (298 miles to be exact), and we really like the dynamic and sporty exterior styling. Mazda MX-30 Interestingly, this is the first Mazda’s mass-produced EV, and we have to say that it is a bit underwhelming. Although spacious and modernly designed, its spec sheet leaves a lot to be desired. First, the 35.5-kWh battery pack is smaller than the competitors, which results in just 130 miles of range and not so convincing performance. We already know that MX-30 will have a very affordable price of around 25,000 pounds which should compensate for its shortcomings. Volkswagen ID4 If the Volkswagen ID3 was designed to become an electric Golf, the ID4 is its compact SUV version. Slightly bigger, spacious, and more expensive, ID4 features a similar design language and details. However, it also has more power due to a 77-kWh battery and 201 hp power output. This results in a respectable range of 301 miles, but Volkswagen still refuses to provide its ID-series models with a significant top speed. In the case of ID4, it is pretty disappointing 99 mph. GMC Hummer EV What was once a symbol of gasoline opulence with a single-digit fuel economy now is one of the most powerful EVs to hit the streets in late 2021. Reincarnated as an off-road pickup, Hummer EV will be an expensive but immensely capable, all-electric, all-terrain vehicle with impressive performance and power. This American brute will deliver 986 hp and an insane 11,500 lb-ft of torque in its top version! The 0 to 60 mph is achievable in 3 seconds, and it will have around 350 of range.
