Leapmotor did upgrade the C10 from 6.6 kW to 11 kW for the 2025 model year in Malaysia, but we found nothing confirming that reached British cars. On a C10, B10 or B05 it runs past thirty hours, so there it is a spare for trips rather than a routine. More on charging from a domestic socket.

Cable lengths

Measure from your charge point to the charging flap with the car parked as you normally leave it, then allow slack so the cable is not pulled taut. 5m suits a wallbox beside the flap and often works on the T03, which is a very short car. 10m is our most popular length and covers most driveways. 15m and 20m handle detached garages, shared parking and chargers on the far side of the house. That stretches the same charge to eleven hours and drops you to seventeen miles an hour. The question is only whether the electricity comes from your wallbox or from a tank of petrol.

Electricity from a cable is far cheaper than electricity made by burning petrol in your own engine. If your circumstances mean you cannot charge at home or at work, a conventional hybrid is a better fit than this car.

Is 6.6 kW fast enough for a battery this size?

Yes, comfortably. 28.4 kWh at 6.6 kW is a five hour job, so the whole battery fits inside an evening, an overnight cheap-rate window, or a working day in a car park. The 6.6 kW ceiling is a real limitation on the 69.9 kWh pure electric C10. Here it barely registers.

Can I get by charging on a household socket every night?

Mostly, yes. Fourteen hours from empty is more than one night, but you will rarely arrive home empty. A typical evening plugged in at 2.3 kW recovers 80 to 100 miles of electric range, which covers most days. Fit a wallbox and use a 32A cable if you want the battery full in five hours instead.

Does the petrol engine refill the battery to full?

No, and it is not meant to. The generator maintains a working buffer so the motor always has power, but it does not recharge the pack to 100 percent, because making electricity from petrol is expensive. Getting a full battery is what the cable is for.

Can it rapid charge on a motorway?

It accepts DC rapid charging, but on a range extender there is rarely much reason to use it. The Leapmotor B10 is listed as arriving with a Type 2 AC cable and a domestic 3-pin cable as standard, which is more generous than most manufacturers manage in 2026. So the first honest question is not which cable to buy, it is whether you need one at all.

Two things usually decide it. The first is length. Supplied cables are short, typically 5m, which is fine if your wallbox is beside the driver's door and awkward if it is not. The B10's charge flap is on the rear right, so if you reverse onto a driveway with the box on the far wall, or you share a bay, a 5m cable can end up two metres short of useful.

The second is the current rating, and Leapmotor does not publish it. A 16A cable holds the car to 3.7 kW, a 32A cable lets it take 7.4 kW at home. That is the difference between ten and a quarter hours and twenty and a half hours from empty. If your supplied cable is a 16A one, replacing it is the single biggest improvement you can make to how this car lives with you.

How to check what you have

Look at the moulding on the plug or the label on the bag. It will say 16A or 32A, and often 3.7 kW or 7.4 kW. If it only gives a kW figure, 3.7 kW means 16A and 7.4 kW means 32A. Cable thickness is a rough guide too, a 32A cable is noticeably chunkier.

What the B10's 11 kW rating actually gives you

The B10 has an 11 kW onboard charger, which is a genuine three-phase figure and better than the 6.6 kW fitted to the T03 and C10. Plug a 3-Phase 32A cable into one of those and the B10 takes the full 11 kW, dropping a complete charge to seven hours and lifting you to 44 miles an hour. A 50 mile electric range is not enough to cover a week, so this is a plug-in-often car rather than a plug-in-overnight one. The point is that plugging in often is easy when a full charge fits inside an evening at home, a morning at the office, or a long afternoon in a supermarket car park. On a 16A cable the same window gives you about 100 miles.

Do I need to charge a B05 to 100 percent?

Only before a long trip. Day to day, charging to 80 percent is the usual advice for a battery like this and leaves you around 240 miles, which is more than almost any daily routine needs. Charging to 80 rather than 100 also happens to take place at the faster part of the charge curve.

The B05 and B10 have the same battery, so why do the miles per hour differ?

Because the B05 is more efficient. Both take 7.4 kW at home and both hold 67.1 kWh, but the B05 travels roughly 4.5 miles per kWh against the B10's 4.0. Every hour on the same cable therefore buys you about three more miles in a B05.

Does the B05 come with a cable already?

Leapmotor lists a Type 2 cable and a 3-pin cable as standard equipment, but specification lists change and vary by trim, so check your own order paperwork and the boot. Where a cable is included it is usually 5m, which is the most common reason B05 owners buy a 10m one from us.

Can I make the car charge only during the cheap hours?

Yes, and it is worth setting up. You can schedule charging in the car's own menus, in the Leapmotor app, or on the wallbox, whichever you find easier. Only use one of them at a time, because two competing schedules is the usual reason an owner wakes up to an uncharged car.

Will a 20m cable charge slower than a 5m one?

No, not to any degree you could measure. Our cables are sized so that voltage drop across the full length is negligible at 32A, which is exactly why cable gauge matters and why a longer cable is heavier. Buy the length that reaches comfortably rather than the shortest you can get away with.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0649/9667/1671/files/790f9913fecb30acdd2238e6bcc5d986_13044c1c-75c5-43a4-b2b0-20466f6b6420.jpg?v=1788075080
